With regards to ar I try to write down common patterns I fail on

do u guys have any tips for vr specifically regarding how to determine the main aim of the passage without having to read the whole text

Try reading the last paragraph (the concluding one) - these usually have the main purpose and stuff along with what the author personally believes. But this may not be the case all the times, but a useful trend to know nonetheless
