Hey were you guys told to know a recent practising Australian scientist?!

Cos we were but im cant think of a well known one!

i know...that part sux. I think Graeme Clark, who pioneered the bionic ear, is a good one, esp. if you're doing communications. There's also a guy called Doherty (i can't remember his first name) who did stuff on B and T lymphocytes and won the Nobel prize.

well now! thats something new! We were never told to do that. Can they ask a particular question on it? I though the skills section was just things that you cover in the course of doing the course...

Skills can be examined as much as any other part. This is especially done in pratical questions.

The odds of asking about a scientist is low as the marking would be too time consuming. They could however ask the methods you ised.

My teacher pointed out that it was required to know a practising female and male Australian scientist, so McFarlane Burnet can't be used. I've done some research myself, and the two scientists that I'm doing are Ego Seeman (Osteoporosis) and Joanne Clark (Antibiotics). You might be able to get some info on what they're doing from Google.

MacFarlane burnet worked on the immune response. thats what i know

He developed the clonal selection theory (where specific T/B cells are produced in response to certain antigens), and also worked on immunology, where he developed vaccines and such using chicken eggs.
