Hi, i'm really confused about the online enrolment as most of you are (like someone said, feels like im missing something). I'm wondering when do we actually start enrolling/choosing the subjects we want to do for the first sesssion?

Thanks. :)

When we choose our subjects we do three core subjects and one elective rite ?

Shouldn't our elective be related to our major ? How about if we want a double major eg. B Commerce - Accounting / Info Sys. How can we fit each elective in our timetable ?

I also have a problem with choosing electives.

I have to choose TWo electives in Semester 1. (one must be maths)

and in Semester 2, I can only choose ONE elective. What do I do??? I thought you MUST do 1A and 1B or something. Like you must do the subject in BOTH semester.

Help please......

Yes.
and yes, u should choose your electives that are related to your major, which means doing the first year INFS subject
because Accounting 1A and 1B are both core subjects, they form part of ur major, so u start picking your own accounting subjects in 2nd year

Oh yeah.. is the enrolment thing served on a first-come-first-serve basis ?
Yes. but in first year, there should be more than enough places in each subject (especially core subjects!)
but dont worry if u cant enrol in the lecture time u wanted to - because u can enrol in another time, but still go to the lecture time that u wanted (but u might need to battle for a seat in the theatre)

What course are u doing?
u have to choose an elective and it has to be maths? that sounds like a required subject rather than an elective

Electives are just that, if you've done the 1A version of something, you don't have to do the 1B of that subject for second semester if its not a requirement for your course.

Minai is right about the lectures...theres more than enough, but for stuff like tutes and labs, if you want to organise your timetable so you see your friends, you might want to get in a spot for those quick.

yeah. Medical Science.
You can choose TWO electives in Semester 1, including:
Maths, Physics, Computing, Philosophy, and Psychology

Then in Semester 2, you can only choose ONE elective.

So what happen?

So sunny, accodring to you, PSYC1001 Psychology 1A is the same as PSYC1011 Psychology 1B??

So after I did Psychology 1A, I don't have to do Psychology 1 B??

And same with maths?

I don't get it!

No...psych 1A and psych 1B are different subjects, usually A and B subjects complement each other (just not in the case of psych, you can do 1B without having done 1A).

Electives are just that - you do what ever you want. I did Physics 1A in session 1, but decided I didn't want to continue with physics, so I didn't pick physics 1B in session 2 and did electrical engineering instead.

So in session 2, you can either continue with the subject you want to continue with, or pick something completely new.

My suggest is to continue with something, so that you can continue with the study in that field in later years - because if you're scattered all over the place in first/second year, when you pick electives for 3rd year you might find yourself at a dead end because you haven't done pre requisites for 3rd year electives.

If according to your program, maths is not a core in 2nd session, then no :)

But do note, that many other electives might require a pre req of math 1B - and not having done it would be a disadvantage in that case.

I hope Maths is not core in S2, sunny.

But they put maths in the electives in S1 and tell us this: "You must choose at least one Mathematics course in your elective list."
:(
