We can't pull all nighters once we're like 50 man, life doesn't work that way hahaha at least future you will be looking back at past you and be like "hahahaha i remember when i use to pull all nighters, that was the shit", instead of "damn felt like i didn't live life enough"
The fact is, if you want success in life, you have to be continuously putting in the effort. The whole "suffer now and life your life as a champion" thing is ridiculous, because in the real world, if you want to live as a champion and be successful, you will always be putting in the hard yards. It isnt like you put in an effort in High School, waltz in and out of uni, get a job and suddenly you are earning mega money with little effort. Where I work, my office is on the executive floor with all the managers and department heads and let me tell you, those people work for their big paychecks.

Look, I dont like being the cynical one, but too many High School kids have this attitude that they have to suffer in High School for a mark and suddenly the rest of their life will be laid out on a platter for them. Then, these same people get to uni and are really bummed out to learn that it's just the begining. I'm not having a go at you or anything (I probably had a similar mentality at your age), but I felt a little obliged to point it out.

Appreciate your story and insight a lot. I know it's only going to be harder when i finish high school but at least i can keep that fire going once i'm (hopefully) in a prestigious or at least decent uni, knowing that i've made the right decisions in life. Not saying that people who choose an alternate career choice is wrong but i find that university shows that you've placed effort in at a young age.

I really want to do economics or legal but i don't know if i can stand it.

May i ask what uni you attended or graduated from?

In my old-fashioned way of thinking - those who have the aptitude/ability should choose the foundational disciplines: apart from English, choose from Maths (>= 3U), Physics, Chemistry or Biology, and Economics. These subjects will provide you with the necessary foundation to pursue Medicine, Law, Commerce, Science, Engineering, Actuary, Optometry, Dentistry etc. You have so many options open to you. Remember, in year 10 - how can you be so sure what you really want to do at Uni? If you prefer the Humanities, then of course you'll need to replace the science units with the relevant humanities units.

I don't think Business Studies is the route to Commerce, Legal Studies to Law and Engineering Studies to Engineering.

My advice is to keep a broad base of subjects at this point to foster your dichotomous interests. I had an interest in both science and humanities, and my HSC was basically a half-half split between the two!

Oh and also enoil's advice is good, because otherwise uni is a rude shock where you've gotta start the game of work and study from scratch again.

I'd actually recommend a merger of your two options from what I've read in this post.
-Adv English (2u)
-3 Unit Maths (3u)
-A science (2U)
-A science (2U) (I'd probs suggest Chem, and then either Bio/Physics)
-Business/Legal/Eco (2u) (I'd recommend Eco if you are really thinking of doing anything business-y after school, it's a very logical and interesting subject)
-Ancient or Modern History (2U)

Giving you a real mixture of 13 units for prelim.

That'd give you a broad base for customization yr 12 and a broad basis for the future.

Not to be mean, but that statement kind of doesn't make sense... From what I've seen with legal, like the rest of humanities it involves writing essays and learning about laws and cases, if you like learning about that thing then essay writing should not be a problem. Economics still has a lot of theory as well. For both of them if you're interested in the content that's taught then doing the exams should not be a problem, but don't do it if you don't have a certain amount of interest because you will find that it becomes a drag and especially are not in the mood to study for the exam even.

They are completely different things anyway, do what you like.
If I were you, I'd do chem, phys and economics and drop the one I like the least by the end of year 11. No need to do business studies.

I think you should do two science (for med I suggest do phys/chem as my teacher mentioned that biology is mainly rote...
Not sure if srs. Rote learning biology won't get you very far in the HSC.

If i were to choose business would it benefit me in any way to study 3 unit maths, seeing that atar for business studies related topics are 92+ atar. + how is the pay, what are the chances of getting a well paying job and would i get to wear a suit to work every day (sorry, i may be 15 but there's always a little kid in me who's ambitions was to wear a suit and feel like i've succeeded. Probably 4 year old me got it from a movie or a tv show, i dunno...)
-Yeah, you would be wearing a suit and tie everyday!
-'Business' is quite broad. Which area of business are you interested in? It might be useful to look into that. I think that most of the time, your idea of what a particular career would be like is nothing like what it really is in reality.
-I think that in business, like many other jobs, you work your way from the bottom, which may mean starting from a not so high salary. Getting a job in 'business' can also be competitive, especially when you think about how many business graduates universities are cranking out each year.
-Ain't nobody looking to pay you a 100k salary straight after you graduate. But, your best bet into getting a great job with a great starting salary is to get those connections forming during your time at uni. Apply for work at different companies, get the experience. That way, when you finish, your potential employers won't be staring at an empty resume. Also, having these connections mean you may be recommended for a position by someone you know and recognises your potential, or may find out ahead of other people when there is a position available at a company.

That's very true.

really up to u, if u need, just mix it up with both but personally, business subjects > science subjects. science based are more about understanding and application, hence, harder, no major writing i.e. essays. business little bit of understanding but more memorising, lot more writing. Which ever one doing better in, go with that.

You don't need business to do a business-related degree at uni and you don't need science to do a science-related degree. But it certainly helps to have a science-related background if you want to do science or med at uni. For business, most students go in without a formal background.

Either way, you should be fine :)
Amazing. Can you please elaborate?
