This has probably been done before, but I was just wondering: has anyone done Summer School as a way to get ahead. so that in one of your semesters you only do 3 subjects, coz you've done a subject at summer school?

i was thinking of doing this for '06 and '07, coz i;ll be doing a lot of psych subjects, and it's going to killl me. so i was thinking of doing some arts subjects during summer school.

has anyone done this? good idea or no?

I haven't, but if you have both the money and the time, then why not?

well im guessing that if it goes for a month, and well i'll have another 3 months so thats enough of a holiday. my parents said they'd pay, which is great. but ive been told its a crap idea. so im still trying to figure out waht to do

Uni would be dead during the holidays, which would make the courses so much more unbearable.

But if you can cope without people, than go for it.

Its a good idea in theory, but it is expensive (although if ur parents are paying ur lucky), and also you might end up with big breaks in the middle of ur uni day.. rather than getting more time off to go home and study

in the end its up to you, its a smart idea but i just couldn't think of willingly giving up my summer hols

I think they timetable it so you pretty much have lectures/tutes straight after each other. I was looking at the timetable for 2nd year maths at summer school and it was a tuesday and thursday from 9-1, in that 9-1 there was a lecture from 9-11 and then tute from 11-1.

well if i did one arts subject, im assuming it'd be 2 lectures and 1 tute p/w, but if u have to squish 13 weeks into 4, then it'd be something like 6 lectures and 5 tutes p/w, but i could be wrong coz my maths sucks. that does sound pretty crazy. i hope they timetable it like u said vince. i thoink i need to speak to someone who's done it before, but thanks guys.

ive still got til november or something to decide. in theory it is a good idea, and im willing to give up a month of my holidays, but it'd be stupid if i ended up failing it. and yeh justin's right - it'd be pretty lonely!!

Do you need to do well in uni or just pass?

If it is just pass then go to summer school.
why do you think it'll be hard to get high marks?

ok, i've got some questions:
1) Will the marks i get during summer impact on my gpa for my transfer? Or is it just first year results?
2) Will I be likely to get lower marks then I would if I did the subject regularly?
3) Can I do the FEE-help thing for the costs? Apparently fee paying students can deffer the costs for regular uni, can I do this for summer school uni?
4) Will getting a scholarship here impact on other scholarship availabilities for me?
