A Beautiful Mind
Death of a Salesman
The Crucible (I haven't seen this but my teacher said yes to it)
Anything on Mandela
A heap of Leunig cartoons
Also look for articles in the media that might be related to the concept - gives you fresh outlook
frost poem 'stopping by woods on a snowy evening' - I think this has been mentioned.

I used:
Fight Club (film)
Green Day - Welcome to Paradise (song)

They seem to be working pretty well in terms of the inner journeys depicted in them. I suppose when I use them for an assignment will be the real test.

Donnie Darko (film) would also work but it is much too complex for me, I reccomend it if you're brave or skillful enough.

I use The Motorycle Diaries (film, 2004 - Walter Salles), The Crucible (play, 1953 - Arthur Miller) and Amelie (film, 2001 - Jean-Pierre Jeunet). Often i'll use them with set-readings 'Blood on the Tracks' and 'The Town Where Time Stands Still'. The prescribed text I use is 'My Place' by Sally Morgan, which I hate, but is an excellent inner-journeys text.

I have great notes on The Motorcycle Diaries, so if you're familiar with the film you may be interested.

I've also used Donnie Darko (film, 2001 - Richard Kelly), however i'd advise against it. It features an incredibly complex narrative, that really needs to be explained in order for comments on the journey to surface. This means that you'll be wasting time writing content that won't get you any marks.

I will not be studying Donnie Darko, I love the film, but I am not too confident with my essay writing skills, however, I would be really interested in reading notes you have on the film.
Let me know, Thanks

in reply to someone earlier: we need to have our set text, one stimulus (that stupid shiny thing) and 2 of our own choosing.

im thinking diversifying as much as possible in text type, markers will like it much better!

Um okay I have a few on my list for inner journey's texts,

Movies
American Beauty - The last few scenes where the guy (sorry can't remember his name) is reflecting on what has happened as he dies.
LotR - there's heaps of sences in this Frodo and what happens to the ring. Aragon's choice with the Paths of the Dead. The decision of the fellowship to send Frodo and heaps more. The books are sometimes better.
Moulin Rouge - At the end where Satine tells him she doesn't love him and how he goes back to find out why.
Rabbit Proof Fence - The Journey of the girls and there perserverence to make it home regardless of the distance.

Books
The Tommorow Series - There's heaps in these books. The inner journey of any of the characters and how they manage to deal with the idea of a war so close to home.
Letters From the Inside - The stories of the two girls lifes and how they deal with them.
Firesong - Inner journey of Bowman and Kess when they leave their parents.

Poems
Footprints - Kindda self explanitory

Songs
Cats in the Craddle - The father and how he realises that his son is "just like me."
Superman - "even hero's have the right to dream"

Okay yeah that's about it from me for now I hope it helps oh yeah Wizard of Oz - and how all of them go on a jjourney because they need something and how they discover that/find that. Yeah so that's all hope it helped.

K ... this is what Im doing to ease the pressure off finding related texts for next year.
I am keeping files on my computer of songs, movies, peoms etc and ways of finding them. I am also going to keep a log book. It is easier . try it. I have currently bout 5 files of stuff. If you want some ideas let me know.

Compilation of the List so far

Ok guys, its long, so be ready, also,
please excuse:
typos, i've tried to fix most of them, but .. thers alot.
titles in the wrong text type, most people were good, but there were some obscure ones, which didn't really specify
and lastly, doubles, sumthing i might have missed or in the case of Bridget Jones' Diary is meant to be in both..

i haven't been critical in anyway for this list, any sugestion has made it on here, this is for the lazy ppl who dont want to read the whole thing, sum of those with stars to their title mean that sum nice person had included a bit on info when they suggested the title, so i suggest, take the time, find their post and read it.

Has anyone seen the Time Machine? The new one, with Guy Pearce in it.

Would that be an inner journey, shown through the metaphor of a physical journey (much like the road not taken)?

I think doing the footprints poem would be really interesting, but i fail to see much of an inner journey, like i know it is, but there isnt really a change of state of mind, could you clarify? Thanks
