Don't you understand the whole point of the movie? There's a theory that all action movies are inherently homoerotic, and Team American was taking the piss out of that. The "trust, not sex" thing is how action movies supposedly try to mask the homoeroticism.

In action movies the male heroes always end up without shirts. Women are traditionally weak and helpless. There's always a very close bond between the hero and his sidekick. That's why some people call it gay. I don't really believe it, but that's what that scene in Team America was about.
