Hey

even though i have not done this module (for this my prescribed text is ted hughes) whilst looking for other related material for journeys (advanced eng) and retreat from the global (ext english)

i might as well look for my telling the truth stuff could some one please give me some sort of idea what i am looking for.,...like a criteria some examples would be great

something which shows two sides of the truth. if you can see the truth is presented differently in 2 texts which are related, great.

something which shows the truth has been manipulated.

bowling for columbine is supposed to be good (movie/documenarty style movie). it is used by many people though.



i just started worrying about the essay i wrote for this section in the exam until i realised that i have already got the results back! i have to calm down!

it depends what you have to do, you can use recent stuff if you put it in your work, ie feature article, informal letter, or something creative...

although i was told to stick to contextually related materials, her letter to her mother....her diary...even her poems, which are directly related to birthday letters.

actually, i have a huge pile of ted hughes notes that i am looking to sell. if interested PM me for details.

read the paper every week, theres always things about telling the truth
when the search function comes back it will be easier to find related material.. theres a whole thread with good stuff on it

You can check out the 'related material for telling the truth' thread in this forum (jus a few threads down).
Also, 'Wag the Dog' is a good film u can do.
And also, for whatever related material u r doing, u have to say how (i.e. techniques) the medium (e.g newspaper article, film) shows the truth is manipulated/exaggerated/etc.

I did Chicago which was great. Also watch Wag the Dog to get the feel for ttt but don't use it because it is incredibly overdone!

I had one serious outlook on the 'Telling The Truth' concept (John Butler Trio's song, Media), and an ironic outlook (A Simpsons episode called Mr. X). It was good to contrast the techniques.

ohhh and the bad man homer one too. its the one with the sexual harrassment and the babysitter. i think thats more suitable for representation of texts in the media
