something to do with rose petals or something...Im not scientific, just reporting what the guy said.
Hmm rose petal extract is used as a natural indicator but why would you use flame, just use metho and a mortar and pestel.

We dont do that, but Im always around when things break. But the funniest time was when a silver salt was spilt on the (now) school captains shirt (this is while it was still white in colour ;)).

One of my friends accidently turned on a gas tap (his elbow was leaning on it) while the teacher was demonstrating something with a bunsen burner next to it, should have seen the teacher jump when he saw the fireball going towards him.

We do a lot of weird things in science. We light some gas in a tin can and the flame rises up to the ceiling and marks it, we blow up sodium chloride (l think thats what its called) we make rockets that fly across the room at 80km/h.

I thought it was funny and stupid as well...l don't know why the two schools did it/do it. I think its just so they know the kids can use one safely. When l got my licenses l had to perform an experiment and show that l could use a bunsen burner safely and efficiently.

theory only? gawsh.. its so boring ! not like the pracs are interesting anyway.
To me pracs were something to memorise cos we never did the pracs properly, i mean we were guided by our teacher on how to do it..esp in Chem...and in physics we did heaps of the pracs which were in the old syllabus  (the syl was reduced by 15%)...so there was no point in listening...so at the end of the day we knew we have to just get a copy of pracs and just learn it from there.
