they subtitle oz accents aswell

i wonder how phil feels about it being a new zealander and all. He was the one who scouted and produced the NZ legs of the race both times they've been there.

Theres almost no chance of having any other countries participate in The Amazing Race. They dont even let canadians on it!

one possible problem is that all the american teams may be eliminated and that would be disasterous for CBS being that americans only like watching other americans.

there is nil imported programs shown in the US. All of it is locally made.

just shows how arrogant they can be...
i was thinking no americans in it at all...
just for the fact it would be nice to watch people from other countries go around the world and not be so self absorbed... like the guys who said everyone should talk english

Kath and Kim is actually being exported to a few countries around the world, and also being translated into other languages. It is a very popular and renowned show. Aussie and British comedy is much better than most American.

Americans may make interesting shows, but then they go and make 5 copies of that show, and you just get over it. And their drama is fairly crap most of the time.

And primetime US shows cost approx $4million per 30 min whereas Australian funding allows for about $200,000 per 30min. Its no wonder American shows are better.

Money doesn't always equal quality, it just means they can make it look snazzier.

hence quality.

imagine an amazing race with only $400 000 per ep. would look el crap because theyd have to saher personel and a cameraman would be seen in every 3rd shot.

yeah, and they won't be able to go to another country. lol
the Amazing race around Australia. lol
Just look at Survivor for example. it's crap, the challenges didn't work, only 250 000 AUS dollar compared to 1 million US. very cheaply produced.

Do you blame them? What would they exactly want from Oz?
And in terms of English shows, they just appropriate the host (ak The Weakest Link), so that is sort like importing.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

You can tell that they REALLY don't want non-americans by looking at "The Rebel Billionare". Branson is English, most of his companies are in England, but he has American contestants ...

yep they import concepts. Sometimes if they like a drama/comedy series they'll copy it but use americans.
