everyone's all about joy division, the smiths, the cure, echo and the bunnymen, etc. but what about the dudes who were a combination of everything you love about those aformentioned bands, and yet faced an absence of mainstream success and popularity? i'd say interpol owe more to these guys than any of the bands they're often accused of fascimiling.

in the hope of a long due resurgence, here are my 3 favorite songs of theirs that i could find on youtube:

i find it hard to get into 'strange times' but 'script of the bridge' floats my metaphoric boat

the first half of strange times up until 'swamp thing' is great... the rest is just too happy for my miserable tastes.

this early song of theirs kicks ass too: the fan and the bellows (um, ignore the fanvid)
