Hmmm, i thought all supermarkets would have stopped taking in resumes...pretty much when someone hands in a resume we tell them to submit and online application, and if they get shitty and what to hand it into the SM in person we take it tell them he/she isnt in and end up throwing it out - thats what our SM told us to do anyway. Managers are just not interested in reading resumes, alot easier for HR to weed through the applicants and get a more select group for managers to go through.
See at Woolworths,We take Resumes and a walk in application form,as well as telling them to go online. We Fax/Mail them to Head Office. Those people who complete the walk in forms and resume Generally have more luck.

Well, i handed my resume in on thursday and the woman accepted it so i think it should be fine, but she did have an awkward face on her, like she didnt know if she was allowed to take it or something, but i also sent in an expression of interest like a month ago, so hopefully i get hired. And plus i went to wooloworths to hand mine in as well on that thursday and the lady took it and then when i walked off, she was like bitching it to one of the staff at the checkouts and then i think she threw it in the bin, so oh well.

I want to work at coles more anyways, but just applied at woolies for the sake of it.

what do you do when the signatures don't match on a credit card? i've never had it happen to me before, but i realised today that i don't know what to do if it does. is there a cancel somewhere on the screen that i press?

Do you have the chip card support, because that has a "NO" button, but I don't know what it does.

I would first take the card and put it somewhere where the customer can't take it and run away, then ask them if they could sign the receipt again.

If that doesn't match then I would call for a supervisor to take it from there - I'm not sure what the correct policy is so I won't advise you.

nah you can't insert cards and use the chip at my store. i think we're getting that sometime soon-ish.
my first instinct would be to call a supervisor but then again i don't want them to freak out and run away with all their groceries.
i might ask on my next shift because i'm a bit curious now.

Just lie about it, say something like "Oh, the computer seems to have frozen, I'll just have to call a supervisor"

I'd say the most important thing would be try and keep the card in your possession if you're suspicious.

did anybody just see that thing on today tonight about coles? something about the CEO wanting to make prices better or something. i wasn't really focusing because all i could look at was the staff in the background wearing those yuck brown shirts. i dread the day we have to start wearing those shirts at my store.

I'd be worried about blending in with the fittings with the brown shirts, at least I won't get confused with a KMart worker.

for some reason i just really don't like them. i think it's just the colour. plus i don't particularly like polo shirts. although, i haven't actually seen them up close. none of the coles in my area have them yet. i don't see what was wrong with the blue ones though. i never had the problem of them being too loose.

Lol we have a Kmart literally next door to us. Happens all the time if I venture in there over lunch.
Us too. It's real annoying now because there's a roller door that's on the KMart side which separates the two stores, and now they're open till midnight, they refuse to shut it until right on 10pm which means we can have people in our store till around 10:15 some nights

Our Kmart is open 24 hours and we close midnight most days. So I'm not sure if that happens with us but I assume the store is pretty dead at midnight.

Maybe the next same badges we are getting in the next fortnight will help distinguish us from Kmart lol?

New name badges again? We got new ones a while ago which were exactly the same except they got rid of "Save Everyday" from under the coles logo. A bit of a waste.

Yeah i know, we have millions of coles badges with save everday in our draw at work and we cant even wear them, but they dont want us to throw them out...stupid coles.
But yeah, our coles used to be next to kmart until we moved location, got really annoying shopping there after work because customers mistook me for a kmart worker...was even worse when i turned around and told them i work at coles and they just stare at u blankly.
