Anyone else get raped tonight at the kiosk? I dont think ive scanned so many ciggarets in one shift. One guy (who said he owned a milkbar) bought something like $4000 worth of ciggarets. We had to make so many trips to the smoke vault to keep restocking on smokes. You wouldnt think that $2 or so dollars on each pack on smokes would make a difference, but jeez, with all the people we sold smokes too you would think that we werent going to sell them ever again.

Hopefully the 25% rise on smokes will make people buy less smokes which means less work for me, but then again it may mean more pissed off bogans.

WHOA, is that legal in Vic? We were told that WA licensing laws restricted us to six cartons per person.

No idea, I went and checked with my CSM and she said it was fine she just needed to photocopy his drivers license or some form of ID.

I think we were only allowed to sell 3 cartons per customer, not sure, I don't sell smokes.

The Beauty thing is just a whole bunch of promotions occurring over three weeks to promote Coles' health and beauty ranges. A whole bunch of new displays and singage and all that.
Oh that. We had that ages ago when our aisles were redone. People were given shifts just to walk around wearing a 'health and beauty' polo shirt talking to customers. There was a cake too according to the photographs we have up in the staff room.

We got the refit (with the shirts and that, but no cake), this is a promotion thing with a mini catalogue being sent out with the normal catalogue and they're also having a magazine like they do for christmas, easter etc. and balloons, shitloads of balloons.

I had to do an online HR survey today for Coles called 'We are Listening' basically asked heaps of questions and you have to select 'Strongly Agree', 'Agree', 'Unsure', 'Disagree' or 'Strongly Disagree'. My answers were mainly agree/unsure with a few strongly agree's and one disagree. There was also a section at the end for any comments. I wish I had thought to write 'Please give us nice bonuses like Kmarts'

You also had to select whether you were full time, part time or casual, male or female, age range and you're store.

Anyone else have to do this?

I did something like that a few months ago, I don't think anything came out of it at the store level (I think I should have been more critical)

It must be done on a region/zone basis.

What's this about KMart bonuses?

All Kmart Team Members got a special 'Team Member Gift Card' like a bonus, although had to be spent at Kmart. My friend who is casual got $292.

I wouldn't care if it had to be spent at just Coles within the 12 months. It would keep me feed for quite a while with specials and stuff :)

My friend at Target got these once too, but it was about 18 months ago that she was working there.

Work just rang and asked If I wanted to do 5 hours tomorrow night "cleaning some stuff around the service desk and registers" I didn't think they were that dirty!

i've had to that before - not as an entire shift but just for an hour or two once when it was really quiet. it's amazing how much dust and dirt gets into all these weird places.

Did you accept? I've had a call for 4hr shift doing 'loose stock' but that was when we had massive aisle changes. I remember when we went on a cleaning spree because some important people were coming. That was ages ago though and no one got a specific shift to do it.

Of course I did. I also ended up helping with the POS for the Masterchef. I really think Coles goes over the top, I think banners across aisles 1-6, giant posters on the windows, signs hanging from above the registers, signs on the security things, signs on the trolleys and making front end staff where masterchef aprons is way too over the top.

Just a tad! Do you know how long this is for and whether we get to keep the aprons? They were doing all that stuff on Wednesday evening while I was at work. Supervisor didn't seem impressed with being given all these jobs.

Well, I know the register hangers aren't coming down until sometime in August.

We have our aprons at the service desk to go back when you've finished your shift, but I'm sure nobody would mind if you took one home once it's all done if you really want to.

And seriously, could their be any less practical colour than white!

I went to two Coles yesterday - one my store - and neither of them were wearing the aprons! Even my CSM was working last night and she didn't have one on.

Woot, got a block of Dairy Milk for having the highest scan rate for the week, apparently they're caring about that again now.
