Hey folks just a general question from someone who's probably going to pick this major next year: how much economics do you learn in political economy compared to the standard econ course? Is there much overlap between the two, or do you learn about completely different stuff?

Cheers :)

You will get a brief dose of what standard economics people do in the second year course 'Economic Foundation of Capitalism', which does look at the recent theoretical fashions of orthodox economics. But you will only need to explain the logic of the theories, not actually use them to calculate curves or whatever. Apart from this course ECOP and ECON are basically poles apart.
