Team A has 1 title and finishes in the finals every year for 30 years

Team b has 1 title and has only finished in the finals once when they won it.

Exaggerated scenario but who is the more successful team
Team A
ROFL. What is the point of an exaggerated scenario? From finishing in the finals for three years to 30 years.

Here is my exaggerated scenario.
Team A has 0 titles from 519758137258912758175 seasons
Team B has 1001041901481948291851059831 titles from 1 season

Not to mention this so called team B has 2 titles anyway.

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Furthering that blake, a lot consider that consistency contributes a lot to success. The way the A-Leagues finals are structured, all you need to do is be the best team on the day.

I dont think any club has been hugely successful this early into the life of the league. But thats my opinion being based on success being more than just winning the trophy.

EDIT: I'll just add everything said in the above post. Give the league another 10 years at least, then we'll be able to see which club/s are doing well.

Yup pretty much how i see it.

I can't even remember where this success shit started, either someone(maybe me) said sydney was more successful or melbourne and it kicked off from there. Either way, in the grand scheme of things, who gives a fuck.

Sydney vs Melbourne head-to-head

Played: 9
Melbourne win: 4
Draw: 4
Sydney win: 1

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Which just means Sydney would be better then melbourne head to head against other teams.

Furthermore, its only 3 seasons in, head to head comparions like that are stupid.

Getting close but failing at the last hurdle = success?

TROPHIES DEFINE A SUCCESSFUL CLUB.
What is the difference between Manchester United and Wycombe Wanderers?

9 Premier League titles
11 FA Cups
2 European Cups

What else matters to a succesfull club?

I'l guarantee you that a lot of clubs aren't building their plans for the clubs success solely around winning a trophy at the end of the year.

Fact is, the a-league is much too young for any decent club to be stupid enough to fall for that. Exception: Jets.

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Success on the field is the catalyst for success off the field. When a team is winning, people will come to the game, people will buy merchandise...

We've seen it with Melbourne, we've seen it with Newcastle, we've seen it with the Central Coast.

TROPHIES = SUCCESS. end of.

ManU finishes in the top 4, Wanderers don't.

You can say SFS is successful, but as successful as they should be?

Newcastle and CCM have a higher percentage of total population attending their games.

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Sydney FC competes with a lot more other professional sporting teams who had established themselves long before the A-League.

Who do CCM compete against ?

Its not the team competing against teams in other codes, its the codes themself. And there seems to be a lot of talk in all the major codes with the AFL, A-League, Union, and League have all been spruiking their expansion plans lately. Whether much of this will eventuate remains to be seen.
