re: The Official Football Thread

croatia has lost the plot.
Also looks like there will be some interesting times ahead in regards to transfers in england.
Man city and arsenal are also being investigated by fifa to see if they have broken the transfer window and could join chelsea in not being able to make transfers

Arsenal as well? This is new.

I thought it was just Chelsea, United and City.

In any case, sounds like everyone in the top 4 is gunna cop it. Except liverpool. Cause nobody cares who they sign.

Oh, and Arshavin is out with an injury. Can't say I didn't see this coming.

re: The Official Football Thread

so true, McClaren was a piece of shit, with Capello, England will be able to go to the World Cup Final..(maybe not winning the trophy...as they have a goalkeeper issue):confused:
Brazil have won the world cup plenty of times with 'goalkeeper' issues.

I mean, i think they even won it with Dida once, who is shit.

I wouldn't be surprised if England won the world cup, but it's hard to go past spain.

The goal keeper issue for England is a tough decision.

There are English keepers, but non of them look complete as a top international Goalkeeper. No one stands head and shoulder taller over the competition of the number one jersey.

LOL, brazil did win the world cup with goalie issues, but in 2002...dida was 29 or 30...and technically that was his 'peak' years, as now, he is absolute rubbish.

I would like to know which goalie would replace JULIO CESAR if he were to be injured....would it be one of the top Brazilian League goalkeepers..(Victor and Felipe were both in the confed cup team)? or would he look for a european-based goalie?:rofl::rofl::rofl:

England are the leading scoring European team in World Cup Qualifying at the moment.

As long as they score more than they conceed, then they have a very good chance

As gash as they have been in the past, when you think about it, they really should be up there.

they have a team full of Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, Gerrard, Cole, Rooney etc, all players who carve up in the toughest league in the world. They really should be up there near the finals. That said, they are English, so they'll probably choke.

I'd love if Australia drew them in the groups. even though we'd probably lose.

Spain will choke
+1; exactly, just like a certain confed. cup game against the USA :rofl2::rofl2:

Spain may have the 3 best midfielders in Europe (i mean technical ability) as shown below:

Xavi + Fabregas + Iniesta......BUT they lack an attacking dimension, Villa; Silva and Cazorla are brilliant yet it just doesnt seem to be enough. Winning EURO 2008 is one thing, but lifting up the World Cup is much more difficult. :sun:

To be honest, it didn't look like the Spanish were even trying in the confed cup....so im not really sure why you are all writing them off because of a poor showing....

This slightly reminds me of John Madden commentary:

"The team that scores the most points will win the game".

Soz slightly off topic here haha

LOL no-one is writing them off, they are traditionally chokers.

Well then, u could also say Brazil wasnt really trying as well.

To change the topic, Out of All nations, Brazil has the biggest array of talent right?

As players of some quality: Senna, Deco, Eduardo all decided to take up another nationality due to the competition for places in the national team.

What a massive faggot Adebayor is

Ah well, I guess we can all count Man City as genuine top 4 contenders now and maybe even beyond.

Back in the old days, Keegan had the management approach at Newcastle. It didnt matter how many goals they conceded, as long as they scored more. They were not too strong in defence and would conceed like 3 or 4 goals, but then go on as score 5. It was entertaining stuff.

Also reminds me of an interview with Roy Evans (Liverpool Boss) several years ago.

Think the interviewer asked if Liverpool needed to finish above Newcastle to win the league.

and Evans replied you have to finish above everyone to win the league
