Been ages since i've read it (a good seven years I think) some ideas to ponder:
-His adventure to forge identity-you could talk about the quest for the ring etc.
-his reconciliation with Thorin before Thorin dies
-anything about family/memory in the start part??? (can;t remember)

I kept thinking of things and realising they happened in the LOTR trilogy. If this is you picking a related text yourself, it's always best to pick one you can easily trace the belonging connections and not struggle to draw them out. That's why I often never picked the first movie or book I read for a related text (except Mod C cause I was lazy and that just made it painful, I also should have picked not a novel with a prescribed novel, my essays with mixtures of text types showed a much greater breadth).

As a general piece of advice, if you can't find any links to the module yourself, you probably shouldn't be doing it as a related text.
