A serious question: Who believes having at least 10 units of study, is too much?

I mean do you find through taking these, that you do not have the time to cover each subject in equal amounts? Some might suggest about time management, but to fit each subject in takes up a lot of time. The Uk for example, only have three subjects (i believe) for their A-levels, of which none are compulsory, and yet have the best education system within an English speaking country. (As shown through the comparison between the ATAR and their university thing)

What do you guys think?

Yeah i know aye, English is stupid. I think they should cut the units to 6, reason being as to allow students to focus on subjects that they perhaps would want to enhance as part of their future career. Also being realistic, to do well in each subject, you need to be doing at least an 30m-1hr per night/ subject (according to individual teachers), and people need to live as well.

Yeah true that, but mostly accelerated students. Also, they tend to be from decent schools, of which can ride on the good students marks. I wasn't saying that 99.95+ is impossible by any means, just considerably more difficult from the work load of 10+ units.

It'd probably be okay to have less units to do but it only works if you definetly know what you are going to do, those who have no idea and the many who are out there who do the bare minimum at the moment wont b doing as many subjects that interest them and then they dont find a career that they enjoy and then they end up on Centerlink.

Yes thats true, but i have to disagree mate. For example, my interests are within science when i leave school, now i could quite happily take bio, physics, and chemistry. By having just three, it will allow me to maximise my potential as i can focus my efforts on these three in particular. Whereas by having 5/6 subjects, i have to pick or take some that don't interest me like, Advanced English, and because they don't interest me, i have to put more effort into English to secure a decent mark, and thus less into my sciences and not maximise my full marks in the sciences. I see where your coming from though.

Also just because you don't take a particular subject, it does not mean you can't take it in university or tafe for that matter.

Good on them, and i hope they do achieve that 99.95. But why 18 units, when only 10 of them are going to count. I can understand 12 units, but 18 is a ridculous amount.

Yes 10 units is, when you think about it. Of course, if there doing subjects like food tech, and music then maybe 10 units is acceptable. But for people like yourselfs, and I, who i would think take reasonably difficult subjects, then in reality it is a lot.

I agree which was why i said itd be okay having less units if you knew what you wanted to do
But for all the thousands who dont this wnt benefit them as English will probably forever be mandatory , unfortunately , and maths is pushed hard to be taken on (at least at my school it is) and then they probably only have to do 1 or 2 more subjects.
You cant please everyone esp those who do the hard subjects and those who know what they want to do and concentrate on it bt somehow they came up with 10 units as a minimum.

and its ridiculous to take on 18 o.o itd b the worst feeling putting all your effort into subjects that just wont be counted in the end ... wow

I think 10 units is fine, but compulsory subjects are not.
I do 12 units ffs and I wanted to do 14+!

No... I do 12 units and I have a job and I go out almost everyday, and I go out at least once every weekend. So, yeah... No.

No... I do MX2, Bio, Physics, SORII and English and although two subs are compulsory I would be doing drama, art and physics added onto these if my school/the government let me. They aren't all easy subjects and I would like to do them.
And with what I'm doing now I know 12 units is a fine amount of work to handle, more or less would also be fine but I think 6 units is laughable.
