hehehe, i am, i am indeed male... no offence, but romantic novels aren't really my cup of tea (or any tasty heated beverage for that matter). I don't doubt it's acquired, i just haven't got the interest to do so... rather like blue cheese as you say . However, i was browsing in a second hand book shop for the others i posted and i remembered my mum mentioning she wanted one if i was looking, so yeah.

i borrowed The Life of Pi by Yann Martel from one of my friends and i thought it was amazing! the first 90 pages require a bit of persistance but once i was into it, i couldnt put it down!

Yeah, I must admit, I was only able to read PP after watching the miniseries...I like it so much more that way though I think...

Has anyone read any of Umberto Eco's books? Either his novels or other works?

I've read (no claim to understand) The Name of the Rose, and Foucault's Pendulum.

I may read Faith in Fakes soon.

Is anyone interested in discussing Eco ?

i found dostoyevsky's "the idiot" in a second hand shop in Beaumont Street (Newie) for $1.50!! YAY!!

I've read Nietzsche, "thus spoke zarathustra" and "beyond good and evil".

Bought ..The Rum Diary by Hunter S Thompson. Will start on it after I try to finish War and Peace again.. TV + adsl has destroyed my ability to concentrate.

The Dressmaker - Rosalie Ham (newish aussie novel, i really liked it, although it does have some weird bits!)

Jules Verne's 20,000 leagues under the sea
Very old edition with dust jacket (no publishing date, yet it says it was printed in great britan) An amazing find me tinks at $5.50 from Beaklouw Books near Berrima (NSW)

Thats about it, at present I'm still living off my parent's extensive collections!

I like Crime and Punishment better. Haven't read The Brothers Karamazov yet.
