It's pretty interesting but i don't think that you should take it too seriously.

Penn and Teller are quite good, obviously they are biased. There whole aim is to comabt the bias of often people. If they took a bench sitting approach the show would be boring as shit and non-conclusive. They are giving you an opposing opinion. The duty of the responder is to take both opinions and sit somewhere near the middle, but on one of the sides. That's why radicals of any political side are frowned upon, unless if they are overtly trying to conter another opinion.

Sorry, maybe should have clarified that... I'm not comparing Israel and the Roman Empire, I'm providing an example for why such a vast expansion to control all of the Middle East would simply die in the arse.

What's the story with "hold the land from "eurphates to the nile"."? Is that what the 'promised land' is meant to be?

And also, biggayjames / Captain Muhummad James Ackhbar / Lord Copy Paste wasn't referring to just that area, he quite plainly stated the whole whole Middle East. Therefore in relation to what he said, which I was answering directly, my point still stands. But even a very small growth by Israel would be difficult due to sustain, given the volatile nature of the region and international sentiment. Alot of people who are currently fine with where Israel sets its borders now would probably turn to an aggressive stance towards any further expansion, since alot of post WWII pro-Israeli support due to the whole "well you got fucked in the holocaust so go have fun for a bit" sentiment being expended. Even if that did not stop them, the region which you have identified would probably be extremely hard to control. Think of how much trouble they have with their current borders, with their whole male population having to serve in the military for a large amount of years. I simply don't think any expansion would be viable for Israel, and could quite possibly cause it's demise.
