I might be wrong, but additionally, don't casuals PPT (thanks for the correction, Townie) have to get 10 hours a week of paid work, or else you'll be paid for 10 anyways? Or have I pulled that one out from somewhere?

PPT'ers NOT casuals have to be contracted a minimum of 40 hours over a 4 week period.

edit: and a maximum of 140 hours, i.e. they cant put you on contract for 36 or 37 hrs a week, they have to give you full-time instead, or pay u over-time

however, they dont have to work that much, they have to be ROSTERED that much, but say they want to take a day off to lyke, do something and not take any official leave, they wont be paid for that shift, it's listed as unpaid leave instead

I'll point to the fact that it is now 10 minutes past midnight as my excuse for getting PPT and casual mixed up in my last post :)

Heh, I probably wouldn't have spotted it if you hadn't, so thanks (I fixed my initial post using some slightly-lame colours and formatting).

The other night I was supervising (3pm to 8pm) and I asked the smokeshop operator to do the load and she came back after like 20 mins and this is on a wednesday night when there are like 8-11 boxes and I said
'Wow that was quick' AND SHE REPLIED
'Yeah I dont actually mark it off I just open the boxes and cross it all off and say everything was there, dont tell anyone'

and I was like :O omg!!
what should I do? Does it even matter if she dosent do it properly?

Shes naughty...

Yes if there is missing smokes she'll get her arse booted!! If we have missing smokes like if someone has been lazy and not marked them off like say it said we were suppose to have a carton of winfield blue and we were all out and all the other winfield accounts were right our area store services specialist(thinks thats what their called??) has to come and investigate.

Security Loads (such as cigarettes) MUST be checked off, why wouldnt u bother anyway, it's an excuse to not serve customers, i love putting the cigarette load away because of that

if the cigarettes were marked off and then discrepencis are found on stocktake they might assume staff memebers are stealing (as its exteremly hard , ALMOST impossible for customers to steal them) maybe tell the service manager that youve noticed that certain operators werent doing the smoke load properly (if you dont want to dob her in) cause eventually there will be smokes missing off the load i had one the first load i did.

Yeah tell the service manager about it as she will most likely get fired for that and you actually could to.

Finally got our service desk refit completed the other day. Was the worst day ever, you know those days you're just ready to cry and run up the aisles knocking shit off the shelves. Anyway the place was a fucking mess and it was so ridiculously busy plus it was pension day and our home delivery guy decided he'd only do 10-1 that day.

Our service manager was in but not working, just helping with the cigarette planogram. I was so stressed and the SM and his little friend the duty manager were telling me to put more staff out, then they realised someone had a closed sign up and they said "why is she going?". It was 12.10 and I snapped "she's been here since 7am and hasn't had a break!", I think they realised there was absolutely nothing I could do. Luckily our SSM was walking around helping me.

I just fucking hate the new layout, I'm not gonna go into it all but ah I can't wait to get out of this place.

i wish they would install electric gates for our express area, that u could open and close from inside....the way it is now you have to walk all the way around to flip the sign to open over and undo the chain...takes so long, and it makes it really hard to try close it off when u need to do something

I second that Townie, also install a speaker that booms at customers thinking service is still open, taken straight from LOTR: "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

I said that to a regular as he came into Liqour whilst I was closing up, it was particularly effective since I was weilding the door hook, luckily for my job security, he got the reference =P

OMG I love the refurb! Its so modern. My store isent getting it till next year :( They keep on puttign the date back. It was ment to be August-September this year, than it was december, than Febuary next year and now its freakin June/July! Why do this? So annoying.

Are there photos annywhere? I really wanna see them. I love the fact that smokeshop is no where near express!! No more serving on express while on smokeshop. And the three words that really shit me "Bring people around"

Ok I got my fingerscan number last week and I put the little piece of paper it was written on in my bag and when I looked in my bag the other day to make sure it was there it was gone! I was panicking and could not find it at all and I've been stressing for days as I rang them up the other day and the guy said it was really busy cause there was just a fire drill before and that I should go to the service desk on my first actual shift and get it. But I've been stressing really bad over this and I'm not sure why. Is there anyway to find out what it was without going to the service desk or ringing them up? LIke looking it up on the net?

If you need to go in I'm not sure what to say? Please help I'm stressing really bad and expecially since my shift is on this Friday I'm still confused about some stuff to do with the register, expecially fruit and veg, and they put me on express the other day and a guy wanted some smokes and me being only 14 (15 next month) I had no idea, but he got the smokes he wanted in the end.

So what I'm asking is

1. Is there a way to find out the fingerscan number without ringing them up or going into the store
2. (if no) what do I say to get it back
3. how do I know when I can go on a break?
4. After I sign on or whatever, how do I find out what register I am on?

your number is on your payslip or go to serve desk and ask them. Ask them about breaks and after you sign on the service supervisor will tell you what register your on

Ok is the service supervisor (SS for short) at the service desk? How do I know if he/she is the SS?

And seeing as payslips come out on Wednesday, could I go in there after school and collect my payslip which will have the number I need on it? How do I collect my payslip though? Do I need to provide details to them to get it?

Thanks for helping me, lifesaver :)

The best thing to do is before your shift go to the service desk and say to the SS should be the one who is wearing a green vest over their green woolies shirt and ask them what your employee ID number is it will say on their board along with what register your on.

Just following on fron what Jas62 said... the SS wouldn't necessarily be wearing a green vest, just ask whoever is hanging around the Service Desk and is going through the computer/paperwork

The ID number is the fingerscan number right? And thanks a lot. Everyone who helped cleared things up really well. Kudos to you :)

Edit: and just normally, how do I collect my payslips?

Re: Woolworths FAQ- how to get a job

so.. i just got home from my 2nd shift at big w... but i think safeway (woolwroths) has the same application system.. so i'll just say if ur applying online just say youre available 24/7... now obviously u cant be but that's how u get to the groups. at the group stage u get another form to fill out with availability so i guess u can be a bit more honest if u feel uve made a better impression...
