I'm confused with the timetable,

are we supposed to attend a class of every lecture?

e.g. with ECON110 F/1/d if i attend lecture_1 am i supposed to attend both classes of that lecture?

No, you attend one of each ' _# '

ie, usually you attend one lecture_1, one lecture_2, and one tutorial_1

thats odd,

because i just talked to Lorne Cummings one of the senior lecturers there, and he said for example ECON110 F/1/D that you're supposed to attend one of the three lectures and the tutorial e.g. with lecture_1 it has two classes thus 2 hours?

*confused*

Lorne Cummings taught my ARTS class accounting last semester.

*tries to keep claws sheathed* (nah he's not that bad, we just REALLY HATED ACCOUNTING)

If a class goes for two hours, it will appear as one class (either lecture or tute) and will specify something like 12:00-14:00. If there are two classes, it means there are two classes. NOT the one class running for two hours.

Chances are the econ lecture you're looking at has two day lectures, and one evening one. If you're planning on doing the day lecture, then just pick one of the two.

EDIT: Pwar's actually done the research, I'm just talking about what probably is the case ;)

Ok, well ECON110 has three lectures per week (Lecture_1, Lecture_2, and Lecture_3).

Each of those lectures is presented twice a week - ie, you have two choices of each lecture; Class_01 or Class_02, and sixty-four choices of the tutorial (Classes_01-64).

Ie, you need to attend ONE class of each separate lecture and tutorial.

It might be differnent for ECON110 (it shouldn't be...?), but if there was a choice of three lectures, it would appear as only Lecture_1, Classes_1-3.

Maybe someone who did that subject can comment? I'm telling you what the timetable says, but it may be different.

Yeah.

Ok.

For you classes, you do:

  1. Lecture_1 Class_1 OR Lecture_1 Class_2,
  2. Lecture_2 Class_1 OR Lecture_2 Class_2,
  3. Lecture_3 Class_1 OR Lecture_3 Class_2,
  4. Tutorial_1 Class_1 OR another Class_#.

Four classes, four hours.

Then you'll either have to skip the isys123 lecture OR, enroll in monday's evening lecture for isys. It's not that late, 6pm, 7pm.

gdluck playing with the t/table.

Should tutorials be after lectures or before lectures?

Is there a preferable way

I prefer having my tutorial before my lecture, because then you arent repeating information from the lecture a week later... But it does depend on when the lecture is, and whether you have a tute in first week.

Say, in lecture 1, you learnt about fossils on Monday, and you didnt have a tute that first week. Then second week comes along and in lecture 2 on Monday you learn about dinosaurs. Then, in your tute on Wednesday, you will be repeating the same information you learnt in lecture 1, so you'll constantly be behind yourself a week.. But if you had your tute Monday morning before the lecture, everything would be in tune.

I prefer tutes after lectures, but there is no definitive way. Generally, lectures will be

1. A week infront of the tutes, and/or
2. Not directly related to the tutes.
