Hi ,
Im really lost with titration calculations ?
It takes me ages !!! :(
Do any of you users have any fast ways of working it out ? I was told to draw out a flow chart of all the steps so its more clear, but i spend too much time on them :( .
Any tips ?
Thanks.

if you get really lost draw a table

e.g.
--l acid- l Base
_________________
n l 0.43 l ?
_________________
c l 0.31-l 0.234
_________________
v l ?---- l ?

or whatever it might be (hopefully the spacing worked and it looks like a table but hopefully you get the point)

just do it in steps.
Remember:
Write the formula(s) down
Write the chemical equation down
And from your formula(s), fill in the table :)

hope that helped

edit: the spacing in the table didn't work so I put '-' to fill it up

if the acid and base are monoprotic, you can probably get away with using the c1v1= c2v2 formula but thats not going to get you full marks in the exam.

c1v1=c2v2 only works if the molar ratio is 1:1

for anything it's

(Ca x Va)/a = (Cb x Vb)/b
Ca,Cb = concentrations of acid and base solution
Va,Vb = volumes of each solution used
a,b = molar co-efficients from balanced equation for reactions

Do 2010 question 28 and 2011 question 26, look at the solution if you can't do it yourself.
