i want to get a UAI of over 98 to get into vet science,

i do 3U english, 2U maths, Agriculture, Chemistry and Bio - do you think i need to get a band 6 for each of these subjects to get this UAI?

You'd probably need to average close to 90 for all those subjects, it's hard because some don't scale too great (like 2u maths and Ag) but it's possible. Have a play around with Lazseeker when it's fixed. :)

i would have thought an 'average' band 5 would guarantee anything above 95+

an all-rounder band 6 (in 10+ units), would definately get you 98+ if not 99.

i'm a realist, for myself: bands 5/6 would score me a 93-94 ish :)
it all depends :)

we'll know at the end of the year.

but yes, to answer your question,
a band 6 in those subjects would result in a very good uai.

having said that, i think your greatest 'strengths' would lie in chemistry and ext1 english; i'm doing the same courses :)

i'd agree with the 2u maths and scaling, but try to perform very well in maths also; as with every other subject: give it your all :)

i fell .05 short of 98, and only got 2 band 6's. from (blurry) memory:

art: 97/band 6
maths: 93/band 6
maths ex1: 42/band E3 (ext courses go from E1 to E4)
chem: 82/band 5
software: 89/band 5
eng: 87/band 5

so it all depends really. obviously i dodn't do the same subjects as you, but if you enjoy/are good at a subject that has a reputation for scaling badly (art was my favourite subject), you'll go well (provided you do some work for it ;))

No ... I achieved band-six for three subject ... and managed 98+ ... Although I had high band-fives for another two subjects! :)

for a start you have to do high scaled subjects ( eg. physics) and get at least band 5 in all of them. If you do low scaled subjects (eg. general maths) you would need about 90+ in all of them. I averaged a band 5 and only got in the high 80s

Yes you will require something around 90s for all

i dunno how well agriculture is scaled, but i assume it doesn't get scaled much

But don't be afraid of achieving band 6s. It's not very hard.
eg. I thought i'd get in the 70s for chem, but i got band 6.

i aiming for an uai of around 98 as well...
my subjects are:
english (adv)
ext 1 english
maths
ext 1 maths
physics
chemistry

do u think i would do ok if i get around band 5 for all my subjects
like i go to a selective school
and my rankings are pretty shit atm...
but i think im around average....i got an estimate of 96 last yr based on my yr 11 marks... do u think i can improve on that?

of course u can
provided u do well enough, u can get 99+ easily
if u wanna get 98, then roughly u'll need band6 in maths and 3u maths, ext1 english, then prolly mid to high band 5's in eng adv, phys and chem
so i'd be aiming for 99+

i think we get estimated UAIs after half yearly results come back
and they tend to be pretty accurate

i bet my principal uses lazseeker or something :p

u might wanna show ur careers advisor ur report and let him/her estimate ur uai. My advisor said I'd get around 99-96 and i got 98.25.

Yeah, if you're really worried about UAI's, I recommend trying to get a prediction. They're usually quite accurate.
I was told I'd get 85-90. I got 86.40
A friend was told 90-93. She got 93.65 (See, the system can be beaten!)
However, this was after we'd completed our trials...so yeah...

And I'm not sure who said it but "average" band 5 doesn't get you a guarenteed 90's. That's been proven.

hey, you're doing the same subjects as me!
i'm aiming for 95-97, not 98 or 99 but i like to be surprised.

i also do ext 2 eng and ipt+studies of rel,
but i've got the same mindset, getting band 5's in all subjects, and a few 6s (eng, ipt, maybe maths, E4 for ext1 eng, not sure about ext2 eng yet but we'll see how it goes)

my ranks arent crap, i'm 1st in 2 subjects (1 outright, 1 equal)
but 2nd in a few, generally top 5

i dont go to a selective, but i'm sure you can improve
my estimate last year was only 94.50 or so (lazseeker advanced using percentiles/bands)

i'm sure you can pick up just as I will if you put in the effort

all the best :)
