i dont define a fabulous film as winning cannes!

But the Castle....urgh!

its so simple, we laugh at the film not with it. (or so theorists believe) - i have studied it tho, thus i may be bias towards hating it...

oh no, i dont think we laugh at it, its too close to ourselves to not be laughing with the characters.

i think its a brilliant film, touching and funny and it says a lot about the people and state of justice and affairs in australian society.

and i find that the more you analyise a film, the less you enjoy it as a while entity. i was disgusted at seeing "muriels wedding" on some people's top 5, but thats because i was sick to death of it after yr 10 english.

which reminds me, i have to go study....

1) Mad Max 2
2) Lantana
3) Gettin' Square
4) The Castle
5) Three Dollars

Not so much the greatest Aussie movies, just ones I love. And as for SAW, it was a terrible movie. Worth seeing though, just so you can watch Robin Hood scream "My family, give them back to me damn you! GIVE THEM BACK TO ME DAMN YOU!"
