Hi, I'm a second year commerce/law student at UNSW. I have been having doubts about continuing law, since it's taking up so much of my time and I don't think law is really for me. If I apply through UAC for internal transfer to commerce/arts, will they only consider my ATAR, not WAM? My ATAR is high enough, but I have a pretty shit WAM atm, much lower than 75. :(

So will I still have a chance of getting into comm/arts?

o_O I didn't read that part.

But wait; isn't it like "going to a lower course easier?" eg law to arts? later this year i plan to go from engg/sci to engg only and the lady said that's fine
It's a 'program' transfer. Comm/Law is a different program to Comm/Arts. They are also under a different program authority. Comm/Law is under the Faculty of Law, and Comm/Arts is under the ASB. You aren't just changing the Law part to Arts. The requirements still need to be met. Also, there's no elitist attitude that goes on with transfers. When uni begins, it's all fair game - Arts is not lower than Law.

Eng/Sci to Eng is different, even though it's a program transfer. You can drop to a single degree without meeting the requirements so long as you are not changing your program authority, which in your case, is still the Faculty of Engineering. If you wanted to drop to Science, then you would need to meet the requirements of a transfer to Science since they are under a different program authority.
