I enquired about the weighting given to UAI and GPA for transferring to Melbourne University:

For applicants already (or previously) enrolled at a tertiary institution and wishing to apply to the University of Melbourne, what is the weighting given to the ENTER (or equivalent) and GPA scores (Assuming the applicant has no other qualifications) ? Are tertiary studies given a higher weighting than secondary studies?

Their response:

Thank you for your enquiry.

For students in such situations, the selection committee usually looks at the last 100 points of study, which equates to a year of full-time study. For students interested in full fee-paying places, it is advisable to aim for an average of upwards of 70%. An ENTER score may also be considered in these cases, but in general more emphasis will be placed on the most recent academic results.

Kind regards,
Peter

So this would suggest its not 50:50 ? This is for Commerce btw.
