I do the exact same thing! I normally set small goals like "I'm going to revise this particular topic" or "I'll study for an hour and then have a break". I find this helps me a lot.
Try rewarding yourself, maybe say if I study 'x' subject for 'x' amount of time, I can watch my favourite TV show.

If all else fails lock yourself in your room, hide your TV remote and turn off your computer. Get rid of anything that can distract you and then try to study.

Don't worry, I think most everyone now starting year 12 (including me) still can't "study properly" (if at all). Try doing 15 minutes per day to form a habit, if you last a week, you might last a month, if you last a month, you'll have a healthy study habit you can build on going through year 11 and 12...

Try study periods of 30-1h, rather than study study study for long hours straight. Remember to have your study breaks as well. And maybe drink lots of water :S

How about not studying? It's the School Certificate. If you really need to study, just study the night before the exam. Or have a look at the practice papers on the Board of Studies website.

Here's my tips:
  • Drink coffee to stay awake.
  • Chew gum will also keep you awake.
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Remove all distractions
  • Work in a quiet place, away from your computer, television, etc.
  • Set yourself a timetable
  • Set goals and rewards for yourself
  • Just say to yourself, "It's only one more week"
  • Try not to work long periods of time, as you may exhaust yourself out
  • Eat and drink healthy
  • Take breaks every hour or so. Though avoid doing anything you like, such as going on the computer, television, etc, otherwise your stuffed.
  • Be positive.
  • Get someone to quiz you.
  • Try maybe working with a friend, seriously, as long as they don't distract you.
  • You might also want to try working at the library, as there's no distractions and its quiet, so it kind of forces you to study.
  • And seriously, if you just get stuck into it for a while you kind of get used to studying.

Wow nice tips. But I've tried the 'inviting the friend over to study with' and that didn't work lol. Too much socialising and after that, PS2! Need for Speed VROOM! with him....*Sigh*

I'll definitely be trying some of these. Great Job!

That's the problem I have... it's always the tv or comp that interrupts my studying :( and it's not like you can hide them either.
