Well i was arriving late to my law tute on thursday. When i finally arrived i was told by the people i sit with that when the tutor was marking the roll she came to my name and said "oh he's not here......he's probably doing his assignment".

i was shocked and appalled. i have somehow become the class dunce. i'm the last of a dying breed in law. now i'm wondering when she marks my essay is she gonna be out to fail me. she already thinks im a delinquent.

anyone else have stories about their tutors at maq? or tutors that just didnt like them?

My philofloppy tutor was out to get me, so everytime he gave me a shit mark, I contested it and did much better. He really should be replaced by someone who knows what they're talking about.

I know things happen and they can't make it, but tutors not arriving then not getting someone to leave a note/repalce them, is pretty bad.

Considering a lot of subjects have only 8 or 9 tutes, every one counts. I would have given my paper to the lecturer ! :p

I was in the comp labs onm Friday and a handful of stuents were complaining that their tutors wouldnt mark their ISYS123 assignments because they weren't notified by anyone to attend an earlier class to get them marked (as it was suppose to be on Conception Day). They eventually got their way. To my amazement however, they were still polishing their study guides yesterday.

Tutors aren't out to get to you. If you write something which deserves 15/20, and they give you a 10/20, you know its unfair and you go complain. But if you write something which deserves 10/20 and you get 8/10, it happens (you might also get 12/20 but its usually close). Tutors don't have the time to be out to get you, unless you really repeatedly tick them off.

With that said, you do get dodgy inconsistent markers (eg. COMP115 practical tutors who mark your assignments for style). It happens.

But seem i'm right on the low pass level at law.

I need all the luck i can get. She's gonna see that its mine, and think "yep just as i thought. awful just awful".

I'll get whatever mark i deserve but. If there was like an effort to marks ratio........i should have failed long ago.

Ah well if i fail law i'll drop out of uni and chase the rock n roll dream.

this is a reason why they should just have student numbers on the assignments, why i am glad tutors don't know who we are generally and why when they do i hope to make a good impression

most assignments, tests and exams require a student number and full name (the second part defeating the non-administrative purpose of the first).

Yep some tutors are fucking gay. My accg105 tutor wasn't marking present people who never did their work (even though the unit outline said that marks were awarded simply for showing up). Anyway we got into a shouting match and i went and told the lecturer about what this fucking retard was doing. Needless to say i got all my marks back. (anyone that has demi cheung for accg105 tell her that a kindergartener could pass the course, she gets so cut it's so funny)

i had a tutor for multiple tutorials who routinely humiliated me, once implying i was in kindergarten and another time forcing me to read something out when i openly said i didnt want to, and then criticising me later for my "poor performance" :fiery:

My tutor for EDUC106 is really nice and always gets us into interesting discusssions & the like, but sometimes she's a bit too nice, ie she doesn't get cranky when people don't do the readings.
It can get a bit annoying if you put in the effort to read a really boring account of Australia's colonial schools and then she gives the class 15 min to read it because 3/4 of the class couldn't be arsed to do it on time. But other than that, it's probably my favourite class.
I totally agree with the readings. I would actually write her an email or tell her that it's kinda unfair...

Although there's the opposite, I went to one hieroglyphics tute where the readings were about a certain sentence structure. The whole readings were on it, but of course some dumb girl puts up her hand and goes 'umm... what's X mean?' The tutor basically looked at her, ignored her, and kept talking.

Someguy actually thought I was the practical tutor for ISYS123 in the comp labs and asked me to mark his assignment. I told him "I can't mark your assignment..." and without letting me finished he said "Oh so I have to get it marked by my own tutor? I just thought maybe you could mark mine early". Then he walked off.
