only one in the grade who does 4u and IT, only one who does 4u and IPT. makes me wonder if i should've dropped IT, IPT and kept chem.

i reckon its heaps easier 2 get band 6 in 4u den in IT, i fink only 30 ppl or so got it last year in IT

my head teacher was telling me alot of people in the state loose marks in multiple choice and extended response, that alot of marks are given in the section II, she says in MC there is confusing and conflicting definitions, and that they mark like nazi's on extended response, considering short answer is only 40 marks, imagine if you got a good chunk of those 60 other marks (40/60) you still are only in band 5, remember you need to basically get most the mc right, most of short answer and most of extended response

people underestimate the IT extended response far too much, the purpose of it is to discrimiante against a band 5/6 and a band 3/4

lol dude do u know CSSA 4 Unit Maths 63% is a really nice score?
Unless his exam is tweaked and changed such that it's stupid... but that's not likely:)

yeah but luk at his rank, if he got 63 then the top guys would have got like 90+, which i doubt, unless the exam had been changed such that it's stupid (or the year is full of geniuses :p). iam sure speed will clarify this.

nah the CSSA 4u exam wasnt changed much, just the mechanics bits were taken out. and yes Jake the year is FULL of geniuses, well atleast 3 of em. 2 of them got 90+ and the other 88 or so. av for 4u was like 55 or so

There are 30 people doing 4 Unit Maths in his school... often schools only have a few people, some have like one person... 30 is a LOT and rarely schools have that many. Clearly his school is not a bad one...

"if he got 63 then the top guys would have got like 90+,"
90% in 4 Unit means 108\120
Not many people in the state can achieve that unless it's an easy test (CSSA 4u maths isn't that easy)..
Also his 63% would very likely be aligned to 90+ if it was in real HSC

well there u have it "??!" his year is full of geniuses :p.
i dont know about 63 being aligned up 2 90+ though. maybe close to 90.

63% is about 75\120
and CSSA is harder than HSC exam for the 4 Unit paper
and in the 4 Unit HSC paper a 74\120 would align to a 90 easily...

i dont think so.
most people do get to finish it, they just cant do all the questions. WIth those questions they cant do they may be required to think for a bit to figure it out.

For me not finishing the exam, is physically not having read the last question when the time is over.
That didnt happen to anyone in my class. Even though people got 50%'s n stuff.

Hong Kong: 30 people do 4unit, but only 50 do 3unit... dont u see anyhting wrong there..

Unless they take massive amounts of international students and my school takes the most in sydney and thats not the case in my school.

last year 22 people in my school got to do 4unit maths (since they were international my principle wasnt sure of their performance and they all said they wanted to do it) A lot of them didnt perform very well (people were getting 15%) so it brought them down. A guy that was first in Shanghai china in maths was a student and he only got 98 probably cause of that. He deserved a 99. (for 4unit maths)... his uai was 99.6 i think. English brought him down suprise suprise.

actually jake is right, if you say a lower uai or "not so well" the person will become more determined to get their goal uai, but if you say the uai that they want, then they will become cocky and maybe do worse :p
