HSC students to get results by SMS

September 16, 2003 - 12:14PM

NSW's 63,000 Higher School Certificate students will this year be able to receive their exam results in a text message to their mobile phones.

Education Minister Andrew Refshauge said the results would be available to candidates from 6am on December 18.

"If they pre-register with their mobile phone, they'll get a text message waking them up saying these are the results you've got," Dr Refshauge said.

"You can get them anywhere in the world that you can get an SMS text message," he said.

Students can register for the service by sending a text message to the Board of Studies and the one-off fee of $1.10 would then be debited to their phone bill.

A Personal Identification Number (PIN) would ensure the people could only register to receive their own results via SMS.

In addition to the SMS option, students could also check their results by internet, phone or mail.

"Last year alone there were more than 59,000 internet accesses and 6000 telephone calls from students on the day the HSC results were made available - this new service provides another speedy avenue for students to get their results," he said.

Any thoughts?

hehehe... thats a good idea. I am going to do that to!
My dad thought it was great and that he was going to put it onto his phone cuz I was telling my parents i wasn't going to tell them my mark. I suppose for $1.10 its worth it, then you don't have to go to the bother of connecting to the net or sitting in phone queue for hours.

Most people have the window open at around that time but don't click it for a while or click it then don't look at it for a while (thats what I probably do next year). The nerves work wonder

He will need your PIN, it would just be as easy for him to log onto the internet and check it.
