Yeah it says:

Year 2

  • General Education (6 UOC)
Except I'm not sure if it's compulsory or reccommended. See, one means I'm fucked/raped, the other implies I get to deny consent. Oh my god, why did I do engineering...
you should do whatever is recommended

Does anyone know if a specific math or heavily math related courses are compulsory in second year engineering? Predominantly civil engineering. And the same for physics?
I have Civil Engineering friends and they won't be doing MATH2089.

Mechanical: MATH2019, MATH2089
Civil: MATH2019

Because MATH2019 is only for those who actually need it in their program.

I'm sure, Maths, Physics and Electrical Engineering majors do actual stand alone math courses like Several Variable Calculus, Linear Algebra and so on.

hahahaha engineering IS basically heavy math.
Engineering Mathematics is easy I can't believe it, class test average in MATH2019 is 80%.

Don't worry first-years, just survive MATH1131 and MATH1231 then it's alright!
Even though the class test averages are from 50-70%

1st year maths = past papers

Just do every past paper you get in that book and you should be fine for the finals.

Quizzes and whatnot are easy, do sample quizzes if they have those, add in some tute questions.

Maple - spend a day (or two or three...) in the labs going through exercises and you'll start to get the hang of it.

Civil do CVEN2002 instead of MATH2089, which is pretty much the same thing.

MATH2089 was hard :(, MATH2019 was really easy :)

and no point sitting there stuck in maple, bother them assistance thats what theyre there for.

as usual during the hsc and even in uni, past papers are pretty good.
worth it since the final exams are WORTH 60%+

i did better in MATH2089 than in MATH2019 and i thought MATH2019 was piss easy.
numerical methods is hard at first but employs the most flexible methods of solving difficult if not impossible mathematical problems.

i agree CVEN2002 shares similar content to MATH2089, thats why i did the same statistics lab test on the same timeslot with an old friend from civil.

4 Steps.

Do your homework.
Attend lectures, try to get something out of it (even if it's just the process of doing questions, you can understand the theory later)
Do NOT ignore Maple if you're aiming for that HD.
Do your past papers.

If you do all this, you should get a DN at least.
