Im not exactly seeking an excuse here, but does anyone think that since i didnt even apply for undergraduate at unsw , i didnt apply for the umat until the morning of the last day of LATE entries, and only really did so was because my mum said i "shouldnt close off any options" to myself, this might hav contributed to poor results? Is inspiration and ambition an advantage for the UMAT? I didnt sit any UMAT tutouring or pre exam courses or anything, i just basically rocked up and did what i could without having looked at any questions (or particularly caring how well i did). Am i just a retard? or does any1 honestly think this may hav contributed at all??

S1: 46 (38%)

Does anybody know anything about Optometry at UNSW?

My marks are:

S1: 60 (87%)
S2: 66 (98%)
S3: 65 (96%)

Overall: 64 (97%)

Total: 191 (281%)

But then I suppose that UNSW is going to do what Melbourne does and put more weighting on S1, so it'd work out as 188.25 (276%)

I think...

So who's doing optometry and knows what the cut-off would be?

Is it just me or did my percentiles scale down for s1 and s3?

Argh! I so screwed up this year.

Even if I do really well in the exams, I'll be lucky to get 95, let alone 98.75!

BSc (Vision Science) here I come! xD

I think ambition is what drives most that succeed in the UMAT. Although, I have seen many genuinely eager applicants fail miserable in the UMAT.

Offtopic~
Personally, I believe undergraduate medicine should be abolished, and only graduate medicine be offered.

The precision of UMAT will always be questioned until they release their marking procedures (not the machine either, I'm referring to why this question is correct, and how do you know this person will act in such a way?[everyone is different yes?] “There’s no generally speaking in medicine so fix the dam test”). This is probably why they refuse to release their marking produces; it’s either to hide the fact that the questions created lead to vague answers where more than one is acceptable or,

I’ve forgotten the other reason…Ah well…

Pretty disappointed with this-

S1 54 (73 percentile)
S2 63 (96)
S3 43 (0-20)

expected the last score!

Overall 53 (68 percentile)
Sum of scores: 160
*can't work out an overall percentile since i got the 0-20 haha.

have an interview for rural med at UNSW next week, but i guess no more interviews (and probably no med school) for me :(

maybe adelaide?

No prep courses but looks like i might try some next year, i've heard that Section 3 is the easiest to "train" yourself for, is this true?
Yeah S3 can be massively improved. I got mine to go up ~20percent(iles) from last year by doing lots of those mensa/puzzle books.

Getting 100 in a section can mean that you can get marks from anywhere between 80-100, so that might be where Autumn_Rain beat you.

For me,, a percentile score of 237 was translated into a raw score of 221 thanks to that =)
Hey LottoX you do med at UNSW right??

Are there ppl in your who got in with UMAT scores of around mid 170s like 174 -176 ish?? what kinda UAI did they get??

I'm not sure if my experience is representative of the whole but I didn't find that much UAI/UMAT comparing went on. Occaisionally you find out 'so and so duxed ruse' or 'topped subject x' but I don't think it is particularly good form to go around asking people their entry marks. (in other words, I'd be surprised if any one person's word of mouth mark gathering were representative to any useful degree).
