I find section 2 to be the easiest... Section 3 is also mangagble, especially Type I... however Type II's are hard. I struggle a little with section 1 but am confident that I'll get them on wed...

Hmm.. good question :p I assume we get our results by mail. Keep your UMAT number handy. You'll want it in case there are any mishaps I think.

im so losery i couldnt do section II at all...

why does everyone find it so easy.. (i sound like one of those kids that have trouble expressing emotion and has no friends)

Section I and III were pretty good, didnt find many type II's but found most of the type I's and as for the sequences .. except for the second find the middle question (the circle with the 2 lines moving around) and the circle question on the next page that was divided into 6 pieces and it had boxes n crosses... argh i had no idea.

You know the score they give you; is it like out of 300 raw score or comparitively how you went, as a rank if you will...

well they add up all the precentiles you get in each section..
if you get 100 percentile in all sections u get a prefect score of 300

last yrs cutoff for UNSW first round interviews was 233..
so basicly, you want an average of 80 percentile in each section.

btw...what other options do you guys have if you don't get into med?
USyd - Some combo of Philosophy, Pure math and Physiology (Neuroscience). I would probably do adv. science (physiology or math) to facilitate all three or I could be a bludger, go for the BA and just do math and philosophy. Either way I'd be planning on doing post-grad med.

Very long, very lengthy.
Not really to my liking.

but dont they base it on UAI as well, like the higher your UAI estmiate, the lower score in UMAT you can afford to get a first round interview.

Well, if you're wanting to know how it works for UNSW:

This Table has the general cut off scores:

Actual UMAT....|......Predicted UAI required for offer of main round interview
....152.............|.........................................100.0
....169.............|......................................... 99.5
....176.............|......................................... 99.0
....192.............|......................................... 98.0
....210.............|......................................... 97.0
....225.............|......................................... 96.0
....237.............|......................................... 95.0

http://notes.med.unsw.edu.au/home/medweb.nsf/website/2.2.latestnews_local

EDIT: The above scores are "the minimum predicted UAI and actual UMAT scores that applicants needed to achieve to be offered an interview in the main round of interviews (September) over the past two years" for UNSW medicine.

Almost never the case... no one with a UAI of less than 98 has got in.. Gotta blow them away at the interview
