Yeah I thought so. I'm just unsure what to do because I've been wanting to go to UNSW law for a while now, but looking at the selection rank requirement, there is a chance I might not get in without doing an internal transfer. I did get accepted into Macquarie law but I've heard that the uni isnt that great. What do you recommend? The quality of teaching might not be that different, but there is a major difference in cohorts. It's like how there might not be much of a difference in teaching between a regular public school and a selective school, but they'll have very different cohorts. UNSW law is quite competitive and I often struggle to compete. It's also much harder to land basic roles within the law society as everyone is applying for the same few positions.

From my experience, I think internal transfer is considerably easier than atar entry. Pick an easy degree like arts or commerce and try and get a wam ~80. However if you just want to lock in a law degree with no stress, pick macquarie. I also got macquarie law early but in the end got atar entry to unsw law, so went for that. What do you recommend?
Yes I was considering that as well. How difficult is it to get a 80-90 wam? I don't want to get stuck with a degree I dont like if I dont get into law. Also, is it also possible to transfer from macquaire law to unsw law? or is that pathway harder than an ipt? From my experience, I think internal transfer is considerably easier than atar entry. It's much easier to internally transfer from a unsw bachelor's degree to unsw law, than to go from maquarie law to unsw law. Also, there's a big difference between getting an 80-90 wam throughout your entire degree and getting an 80-90 wam in your first year. In first year you can plot your way through and pick the easiest courses possible in order to boost your wam just for the first year. It also helps that first year courses are very easy. I got my only ever HD in the first unsw comp sci course, because it was quite easy.Yes I was considering that as well. How difficult is it to get a 80-90 wam? Thank you that helps a lot. Let's say I do criminology if I dont get into law at unsw, how long would I have to wait to transfer to law? Will this mean I graduate later than the people who got into unsw law directly through atar? It's much easier to internally transfer from a unsw bachelor's degree to unsw law, than to go from maquarie law to unsw law. No it still takes five years to graduate regardless, but you just do more criminology units in first year, and accelerate the first three law courses in your second year.Thank you that helps a lot. Okay that makes sense, thank you.No it still takes five years to graduate regardless, but you just do more criminology units in first year, and accelerate the first three law courses in your second year.
from macquarie law? i thought it would be easierdon't try transfer from macq law to unsw law bc getting a 80+ wam is actually impossible
What we're saying is that it's easier to get 80+ in a regular bachelor's degree at unsw and transfer, than to get 80+ in macquarie law and transferfrom macquarie law? i thought it would be easier
