id employ the one who would most likely excel in the job

just because one person goes to a prestigous uni does not qualify them for a job

If i was an employer who had a choice between two people who did equally well at uni and went to different unis, i'd pick the person who had the previous experience and the personaility to suit the job.

Say its an entry level job, were it is impossible for them to have had relevant previous employment, and what does personality got to do with it

personality has a great deal to as how one person will work with other employees

no1 wants to hire a person who isnt suited for the job or most likely wont have a future there because they cannot interact with other ppl who already work there (for the good of the company.lol)

Personality has everything to do with getting a job. Some companies want people who are outgoing and fun. Others want people who are serious and can handle the workload. Some companies want people who can work in a team, while others want people who can work by themselves. No use giving a person a job if the job doesn't match their personality, nothing would be fulfilled.

Depending on the job - each personality is different, plus you just can't go around changing your own personality :p

How off topic is this....

Anyways i suppose that in the Teaching industry, it would be approachable, ability to communicate well with students, ability to convey information well and to ensure students learn it, and disciplinary skills.

Macquarie is good for Actuarial, Psych, Teaching, and it's decent for Commerce in general.

Also excellent for Humanties, Society stuff (highest B-Arts cutoff in NSW), pretty good for law and decent for computing.

with teaching....coz my cuzin was offered a place in both uts and macq and she wants to complete her degree here but then go overseas to teach, so which of them has a better name round the world
Dont take this up as canon or academic advice just assumptions:

I would say she'd be looking at a B Int Comm Dip Ed if she wants to do that during her/his uni time at once, or a B Int Comm with a B Edu (Pri/Sec/Early) Graduate degree. But i assume if she wants to go overseas, she would need to undertake another course in teaching anyway, so i dont know if its really that relevant.

My apologies for deleting the whole thread before :p. I only did that because it was *all* off topic. I've brought back any posts that didn't have any offensive words in them or aren't just spam!

I Think USYD has a slightly higher B Arts cutoff, but yeah the humanities at MQ are excellent, i especially recommend our Ancient History and Languages sections as well as our SCMP (Society, Culture, Media and Philosophy) division :)

you'd be surprised how much consideration employers take when it comes to personality. my friend applied for several jobs and for one of the jobs, she was competing with people who were in their second/third rounds of interviews, and she was only on her first. reason being was because the other candidates were lacking 'personality'.

in another one of her interviews, she didn't actually have a formal interview, just a social chat with the manager. they did no reference check and only flicked thru her resume. and she got the job.

macquarie is better known for teaching. Although i doubt there is much emphasise on prestige when it comes to teaching, more about your personality in an interview. Even other experiences will overrule this, you could for example start getting years of experience in tutoring. that would be regarded highly, because you would have had practical experience with teaching people.
