What a fucking rort. The fact that they're giving away free stuff just invalidates every signature that goes on it.

So you're telling me it's not wrong to bribe people who otherwise wouldn't give a fuck with food?

My point stands. If students are so strongly opposed to VSU then why do they need a BBQ to get them near the petition in order to sign it?
Indeed why do they need to be compelled to join the Union in the first place if they're so deadset in love with it?

I am not going to sign it. My personal opinion. I don' believe the unions need the funds of students. If they claim they provide adequate services, then they will survive, if not flourish with VSU.

i think a mojority of students aret interested in anyuni biz unless it affects them and since vsu means less money to pay, theyll take it.
anyway, why sign it? isnt it up to the government to decide [decided?] i eman as if they will take it since theyll argue the same, invalid...

I agree with KLH. I think the last person Brendan Nelson is going to listen to are the unions who gave him a horrible entrance at University of Sydney.

yeah it's less money to pay now, but more later and depending on how many facilities etc you use, it may end up costing you more.......

haven't you heard of lobby groups? course it's up to the gov to decide but public opinion impacts on their decision...

if i was gonna be on campus i'd sign it but i don't think i'm gonna be there at that time

i think alot of students dont use much of hte facilities, except a select few...i mean most go to uni, study, go home or go out and not stay there, others work so too busy, and of the international students i know [so some not most] dont use them at all.

btu yes it may cost more in future for some things...like what? Parra has a cafe, bar, pool tables, retail shop. those services about helping students with centrelink and etc, isnt that volunteer?

lobby groups need 2 things, numbers and support from those with power/influence/authority/etc. i dont think vsu has created a big enough noise to arouse much except a bit of "tantrum" like, while everyone is thinking about petrol and prices of food and IR reforms...

since people have brought this up over and over and over

all i'll say is more people use union related services than most people think and i never raised whether the protests etc will or won't work. that's a totally different issue as to whether i agree with vsu or not.

ps - 'vsu' isn't a lobby group:p

If Union related services are useful then they will be paid for. If they are not then they will die.

It's that simple.

When my money is going to a shitty group like "The Queer Collective", i know which side i will be supporting.

The last thing i want to do is support a bunch of fucking fag fuckers who plug the wrong holes.

because most students are apathetic

why does the government have to ignore such a strong anti-VSU voice in passing its cynical policy?
