Shouldn't set you back more than $100 (just find an independent mechanic - i.e. not at a dealer), the REVS check is free (google the website), but you have to buy a certificate which proves the car has no debts outstanding on it to give you legal protection; from memory that is about $15.
I think it might be $13? Did one last night but still can't remember

I payed $80 for my car inspection, but that was from an Alfa specialist who put it up on a hoist and checked the suspension etc as well. I wouldn't want to think it'd be more than that for some NRMA chump to check all the indicators work.

Edit: you should get an NRMA inspection, they are actually pretty good.

^^^NRMA don't do inspections any more, so it will have to be a mechanic. Try and get a specialist for the make you are buying if you can, as obviously they will know what goes wrong with them.

use kbb.com as a base price
American. And comparing a Foreign market to Australia's is stupid. Eg, you can get a 96-98 M3 in the states for about 12-15k AUD. CHEAP! Here is more than twice as much. Useless suggestion.

The only one available to us is redbook Au, but only good for a ballpark figure (and you usually add a couple grand to it)
