this has already been argued. when working it out without any formulas, it comes out as 12. 50, the first value, is not a zooming in value and is therefore not part of the gp.
think about it. if it comes to 12.5, then if its less than 12.5 you won't get at least 400, therefore it has to be 13 terms,

I also got 8 for that question.

If I had a copy of the paper, I'd be posting my answers too, but the examiner wouldn't let me keep it (they told me to come get it later this week)

i didn't have to think about it. i worked it out without using formulas. the twelfth time i zoomed in (ie. multiplied by 1.2), i got a value higher than 400.

I wanted to. I really wanted to.

Also, I was going to get a copy of English Paper 2, but they seem to have gone missing in action. I'll have to ask my English teacher for a copy.

Um im gonna do parts of 6 b) because i can do it in my head
i) 20
ii)10seconds
iii)6 seconds
iv) for that h =2 so 2/3[(20 + 60) + 4(50 + 80) + 2(70)]
so 2/3 [ (80) + 4(130) + 140]
2/3 [740]

well, we're not there yet. but i spose i can kick my chugging brain into gear.

i. complete the diagram.
ii. p (gg) + p (gxg) + p (xgg) = 1/9 + 2/27 + 2/27 = 7/27
iii. 1 - p (gg) - p (xx) = 1 - 1/9 - 1/9 = 7/9

yeah?

and i have to say, xena and gabrielle? lol! like gabrielle could beat xena.
for iii. i got 4/9.. and from your working out.. it should be..
1 - p (gg) - p (xx) = 1 - 1/9 - 4/9 = 4/9

quoting from elsewhere...

Question 4 b)

50 x 1.2 = 60 (first application)
60 x 1.2 = 72 (second application)
72 x 1.2 = 86.4 (third)
86.4 x 1.2 = 103.68 (fourth)
103.68 x 1.2 = 124.416 (fifth)
124.416 x 1.2 = 149.2992 (sixth)
149.2992 x 1.2 = 179.159 (seventh)
179.159 x 1.2 = 214.49 (eighth)

continuing on...

214.49 x 1.2 = 257 (ninth)
257 x 1.2 = 308.86 (tenth)
308 x 1.2 = 370 (eleventh)
370 x 1.2 = 444 (twelfth)

that's what i did. i actually couldn't remember the formulas!

WTF.

That looks right, I also got those answers.

2/3 . 740 is 1480/3 --> 493/1/3

Did anyone else also get this answer?
