I have no idea. I'm tossing up between Finance and Commercial Law, but then again, I have no idea.

Maybe accounting, only because it's the most interesting commerce subject i've come across so far. I'll see how CLAW is once i can start choosing subjects..

Commerce - Finance (the cream) / Accounting (the insurance)

Law - not sure if there are 'specialisations'...

but basically: commercial subjects such as intellectual property law, media law...

and the ones that are offered to commerce students but given to us in a slightly harder course: corporations law, taxation law...

and torts/contracts/property/equity are compulsory

Insurance=job security for accounting.

I dont think finance should be seen as the cream of the crop, seeing as anyone can do it (and a lot do). :p

Also, i think you can major in comm law (commerce) with an LLB at sydney. It wont be a direct path but you can organise your units so you do.

You're right. Anyone can get into finance. But then again, anyone who even puts a fair effort into year 12 can get into any field in commerce in Australia in any university.

Actuary is probably the cream seeing it's prob the hardest...

Unfortunately, jobs are limited and I'd hate to put all my eggs into one basket.

So I would chose finance b/c one can aim for something as good as actuary (investment banking), if not better, and still fall back on something if that goes wrong (corporate finance).

So here's my plan:

1. Investment Banking at top 5 finance firms (more cream more cream...)
2. Corporate finance at big 4 (pretty good... bit disappointed tho)
3. Investment banking at mid-tier firm/clerkship at law firm (hmm... not over yet)
4. Taxation at big 4 (zzzzzzz)
5. Accounting at big 4 (nearly begging on the street)
6. Dole (begging on the street)
You consider corporate finance at EY better than a BDW clerkship?

by the way, 011, I know I probably shouldn't take your signature 'quote' literally, but I'd just like to point out that I am willing to volunteer to work in animal welfare for free, and probably will do so part-time during the holidays and after finishing uni. Of course, if I could make a decent living out of that I'd cancel my degree entirely right now.

I know some may react adversely to it but keep in mind that it's not meant to be true for everyone by a long shot, and it was written by someone who is for the most part a ranting cynic. ;)

Yea... mainly b/c law is not my cup of tea. I enjoy presentation etc... but I like maths more.
