What are some problems and errors in previous Hsc Ext 1 papers (1 Viewer)

I will be sitting for the 2004 paper, and i would like to know the common mistakes and errors people have made througout previous exam papers, Any body ?

Hi Delly, Welcome to BoS.

One of the biggest errors is misreading the question. This includes, not writing about the correct amount of texts, or not following the specified text type.

As Huy said, check out the BOS for more detailed comments.

Also, read the rubric at the top of the question that tells you what you will be awarded marks for. Not that I did that mind you....

hmm...yeh you need to really understand the rubric. it will give you the way that you can approach your elective

Another thing which popped up alot in the I&S marking notes is choosing appropriate related texts. I suppose that would apply to all modules. Don't choose somehting obscure witha brief link to the module - do somthing that you coud possibly write pages and pages on

careless mistakes are a big one. try to do everything thoroughly without mistakes

and look at how many marks are awarded for the question. there's no point doing 5 pages of working for a question worth 2 marks.

i dont think that applies to ext1.

And yeah - look through the examiner's comments for your module.

True, each question is always 50% (out of 25).

Analytical / 25
Creative / 25

I'd say the biggest problem would be focussing on your main essay, spending too much time on the first response, which is equally weighted with the second (creative) response.

You'll find that most will probably spend over an hour with the first (analytical) response, but since they're over-time, that doesn't leave very much room to write a proper creative piece.
