There's nothing wrong with apartheid - if there's anything to talk about here it's the taking of land. Even other arab countries don't give palestinians full rights and by and large do not want them in their countries.

Do you think Hamas thought this wouldn't happen? The only thing that makes sense to me is that Hamas wanted Israel to invade Gaza and kill a bunch of people, to try and get its neighbors to declare war on israel or something
@nsw..wollongong So you think Hamas attacked israel...because that attack would result in israel being defeated? Or that it would hurt israel but they wouldn't respond militarily?

Unless you think Hamas are total idiots, the only thing that makes sense is they did this to provoke an attack in order to radicalise Gazans to fight against Israel and to get Iran and Hezbollah to intervene against Israel. Which may or may not be the ethically sound thing to do, but it makes a lot more sense than them literally thinking Israel would do nothing in response.

i personally find the media hypocritical for getting outraged when 20 Israelis died in 2 days compared to their silence to millions of Palestinians dying since the 50s. not condoning any deaths imo, but this the typa stuff that causes misinformation and bias
I am guessing you are not a modern history student so I might fill you in on the details. (by the way it was 1,400 Israels (and tourists attending a music festival-including a Muslim Israeli paramedic who were massacred, Nepalis agricultural students, and families with babies and grandparents hiding in their bunkers ), 6,700 rockets, 199 kidnapped and 60,000 people displaced from their homes not to mention over 3000 injured. If Israel had not invented the iron dome to deflect the constant rockets who knows what the statistics would be ).

This is a conflict with Hamas a terrorist organisation aligned with ISIS and funded by Iran. Gaza is NOT occupied by Israel it was given to the Palestinians in the disengagement agreement of 2005 and was actually part of Egypt from 1948-1967.

Hamas declares in its charter that it wants the annihilation of the Jewish people and the destruction of the state of Israel FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA- this was the incitement in protests around the world which included chants in Sydney of "gas the Jews" and murders in Paris and Brussels in the last few days- clearly not about territory. Hamas does not want peace. It is not a democratic leadership and uses innocent Palestinians as human shields placing them in harms way, storing weaponry under schools and hospitals and glorifying death and martyrdom. If you believe in social justice, equality and inclusiveness know that if you are a woman or from the LGBTIQ community, let alone another religion you are not safe in Gaza under Hamas or in Iran- if you don't believe me go there and find out.

In contrast Israel wants partners in peace and has done so with Egypt 1979, Jordan 1994 and attempted Onslow Accords. Most recently the Abraham accords with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan and in the process with Saudi Arabia. This is not in the interests of Iran fundamentalist Ali Khameni or Hamas terrorists. Plans revealed Hamas's goal was to murder and mutilate civilians and there have been celebrations and beheadings in Gaza. This is quite different to a nation having to fight to defend its borders as Israel has to to survive. (a country that fits into Tasmania 3 times and Gaza is 1 km away). Imagine if Australia was attacked how would our government respond would we want the ADF to defend us? When the allies were fighting the axis powers no one criticised them for bombing Dresden etc and these deaths was not the goal but the liberation from totalitarianism.

Israel has warned Palestinian civilians and its goal is not innocent deaths however the blood is on the hands of Hamas. Only when they are free of Hamas and has leadership which wants peace and does not educate hate can the loss of lives stop.
Remember Jews are the canary in the mine- as we can learn from history what begins with the Jews does not end with the Jews. Terrorism is a genuine and real threat internationally to civilised society.

I understand why someone commented on this forum that they did not feel safe to state their opinion. At the moment that is the scary reality.

kind of hard to even say who the 'indigenous' people of the levant and palestine even are

the kingdom of israel wasn't the first polity to exist there, in reality 'judea' was one of the various caananite / afro-semitic language speaking states in the area

the genetic inputs of the peninsula arabs elsewhere are mixed depending on the places they colonised through islam (which is really an ethnological religious meme promoting arabization) during the muslim expansions in the 7th century

egyptians are only somewhat 'arab' (about 20% or so), mahgrebi people even less so

levantine peoples such as the syrians, 'palestinians' and lebanese also only somewhat arab, but subsumed to an extent the different greater pan arab identity family

really shows you the kinds of games that can be played with the term 'indigenous' but if we're going to connect common ancestry and claim to a particular geographic place (uh oh why are only non-whites the only people who are allowed to do this) doesn't seem unreasonable to me that at the least the palestinians have more of a legitimate ancestral stake in the area than, at least, the ashkenazi/rhine jews who as much european as they were are levantine, while the mizrahi oriential jews (think avi yemeni lol) have probably been in the area about as long as the arabised palestinians have and ancestrally are about as similar to whoever was originally in the area

wat hamas did at that festival was pretty brutal but to be honest not much different from what the israelis do virtually every other week, the only difference is the jews run the media in western states (sometimes) the governments as well, so we have to hear their whining regarding war crimes committed against them far more frequently than the other way around

israel certainly isn't invincible (was nearly defeated by egypt in 1973, little known fact) and most definitely lost to hezbollah in 2006, and hamas goal here if it has one is to lure the IDF into a brutal boots on the ground urban confrontation that they hope will in allies such as hezbollah and the IRGC, it almost definitely won't succeed and israel will win but it will be extremely costly for them
Israel is the birthplace of Jewish ethnic identity, language, culture, and religion, and Jews have maintained a constant presence there for over 3,000 years. Go there and do an archeological dig or visit Jerusalem, Shilo or any part of the country and you will see the history in front of you ( and bring the Bible with you if you like). Whilst The Roman conquest resulted in Jewish slaves sent to Rome and Jews dispersed whether in Eastern Europe, Yemen, or Algeria to name a few all practices and laws centered around the land of Israel. Genetic findings of the Cohen line prove that Ashkenazim are from this same people.

You are wrong if any Israeli would do what Hamas terrorists did they would NOT be celebrated with lollies and monetary rewards they would be arrested like in any democracy. And just to be clear Israeli Arabs including Muslims, Christians and Druze have had to fight to defend their country from Hamas ( and some of them tragically have been amongst the fatalities).

the rhine hebes have significant european admixture (~30%+) despite being genetically related to the other groups that constitute 'god's chosen people'

israel is a shit hole regardless of its own internal propaganda efforts to present itself as a liberal multi-cultural democracy that didindoonuffin, why arent the pilots who are bullseying civilian infrastructure and fleeing refugees from gaza not being arrested just like in "any democracy" lmao

here's the thing, i do not give a fuck which group of marsh arabs prevail in this conflict, anyone who isn't biased can clearly see that both sides are utterly assholes and do terrible things to each other (its just israel is a lot more effective at it, which is why their impact is far more disproportionate) - this has absolutely nothing to do with australia, our foreign policy or even our sole existence isn't or shouldn't be purposed around serving the ethnic and political interests of the tribe but should reflect genuine economic and geostrategic concerns. israel has absolutely zero geopolitical value - none whatsoever - it's probably as doomed in the long term as the kingdoms of outremer and jerusalem were, and supporting it is convincingly a net negative beyond the allotted resource cost as it makes the states that do so more attractive targets for global terrorism

Why the fuck should Australia care about this literally at all

This is an issue for Israel and Palestine and its neighbors

I mean, im sure you decry 'anti-semitic conspiracy theories' but consider the absolute absurdity of a country in oceania with a negligible jewish population and no strategic or economic dependence on israel having a leader frantically expressing support for israel and wanting to help protect and support it - sounds like wildly outsized influence to me,

Oh boy, thanks Israel! Thanks for creating millions of refugees that western countries end up dealing with! Thanks for advocating mass immigration to western countries so israel can outsource the cost of their actions despite wanting to portray themselves as a liberal democracy! Awesome! Israel is a greatest ally who has literally never done anything that is beneficial for any western country before!

they already had their own state anyway before israel even existed and they didn't want to live there

goebbels floated the idea to give them madagascar

not everyone gets to live exactly where they want, would have been a lot better for everyone if they were stuck in birobidzhan (except maybe russians lol)

May I just chime in (again) and say that we're trying to have a discussion - not a one sided argument where we flame everyone who has an opposite opinion to the majority - can we stop attacking each other and stick to sharing opinions? No matter what anybody says, you aren't going to change someone's mind and personal belief - please stop trying to convince each other and just allow yourselves to share and respect what each other are suggesting.
I wasn't trying to flame anyone. The post just gave me PragerU vibes.

Sorry to question you but who’s attacking people? Most people seem to just be raising their actual points, that video hazzrat sent is a joke
