Does anyone know what mark the external examiners usually give out for short stories?
I'm on about 40/50 for my classmark and would like to know whether they mark high or low in order to find out if I can get a band 4.
Also, is it true that the rankings for ext 2 dont matter - its ure mark that counts.

i didnt think they marked any particular text type high or low... its to the quality of the work not the medium you present it in isnt it?

sorry, thats not what I mean. I meant whether they usually give high or low marks. I heard that they usually give marks above 40 for the external.

You get the mark that your major work deserves.

EE2 can't be judged as well as other courses re: what your external mark will be.

EE2 internal marks the PROCESS and the external marks the PRODUCT. There's a problem here:

Your end product might be something absolutely fantastic - 50/50 but your process was an absolute piece of shit and you got 20/50 = 35/50 in theory.

Your process might be absolutely correct 50/50 but you're still totally inept and couldn't write a story if you were simply copying it verbatim from Dickens = 20/50 and you still get 35/50. Fun fun!

All the other courses for the HSC the internal and the external mark the same thing. The content and knowledge in the course and usually they examine it in the same way using the same HSC style of questions and expect the same standard.

That's why int v. ext in EE2 is a bitch.

2001 - 41.6
2002 - 40.2
2003 - 41.6

The median mark (middle of the candidature) has been:

2001 - 43.4
2002 - 41.2
2003 - 43.0

No. I have no idea why you think English Extension 2 would be treated differently.

no idea whats my rank. i just went up to 39/50 unscaled mark from 33/50 unscaled mark. I was ranked 21st/26 ppl, so im assuming that ill be about 15th.
Really did well in the viva

Im on a scaled mark of 41/50 and coming 48/52 for my school mark - (my raw marks are 7/10 and 15/15 so it shows how close the field is huh :-/)

Im hoping for 46+ for my major work itself though, because my idea is pretty solid.

well it wouldn't be because you still have to get your report back right? how are your internals weighted? we get 20% proposal, 40% vive, 40% report = 100%. i hope i got 20/20 for my report cuz then i'm laughing for internals : ) but yeah yours sounds a little funny
