What gen ed course is everyone doing this year?

And if you've already done one, what was it, and do you recommend/not recommend it?

I'm really indecisive and i usually make crap choices, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are like over 100 gen eds for you to choose from. Just pick something that you are interesting in besides what you are doing in your degree.

I did Frontier In Brain Research. Very interesting, but the lecturer marked really harshly, maybe because it's the faculty of medicine. Would I recommand you to do it? If you don't really mind what marks you get, do it! :D

I recommend GENS7602 (viewing earth through geology). I did it in winter session last year, and I enjoyed the field trips.

In addition to those, there are also rules that apply to anyone doing Gen Eds (I believe these rules apply to people in single degrees).

1) You cannot do more than 6uoc from the same faculty.
2) You cannot do more than 3uoc from your own faculty.

Read more about the Gen Ed rules at the Gen Eds handbook (which is at the Publications Website)

They are not very detailed since they are only meant to be introductory courses to other fields that you don't specialise in. You'd have to try very hard to fail one.

Football as in soccer, or football as in rugby-type football?

ALL FOOTBALL!!

If it was on soccer or rugby it would have been called "History of soccer" or History of rugby".

Very interesting GenEd, I found it quite enjoyable when I did it. It's true about the videos - you spend half the lectures watching vids.

With one of the geneds it says "Note: This course will be taught via web delivery." lol does this mean no lectures/tuts? It's pretty much a bludge if it's taught via web, what would the assesments be like? :D

Gen Eds are compulsory courses for all single degree UNSW students designed to broaden knowledge of students beyond their particular discipline.

Four words spare.

If you even just read the first 2 pages of the Gen Eds handbook it should tell you most things you need to know about them.

Look in your program structure, there will be units set aside for Gen Eds if you have to do any. Then follow the restrictions as set out in the handbook and pick what Gen Eds you like.
