blackbunny, they take the stance that you were planning to cheat (regardless of whether you did or not) and punish you as if you had cheated.

and you may as well just admit it was you, we all know it.

its not a matter of whether or not we have proof, your school has that bit of paper, and regardless of whether or not you used it, you had it (and they need to assume you were at least intending to use it), and thats enough for them to discipline you in whatever way they see fit

I know someone who had got a sheet of (unrelated notes) mixed up in their paper in an exam. It was pretty unlucky :/

Obviously the best way to cheat is to write your essay etc out before hand, and do it on top of another sheet of paper, so you can see the indents your pen made, but noone would notice it on a cursory inspection heh

If you take a cheat sheet into an exam and a teacher sees it, they have to automatically assume you took it into the exam with the thought of using it. They arent meant to listen to you say "i didnt use it" and think oh ok we'll let him off becuase he didnt use it.
The best way to cheat in an exam is too study everything before hand.
Although theres a weird feeling when you have cheat notes in your pocket. You kind of think ive got everything u need to know in my pocket, and you instantly know it. It weird but it works. The dux of my year 11 actually took cheat sheets into an exam, but he didnt use them.
I get really pissed off when someone cheats and beats me, especially when i studied for hours each night.
