Ok so I know this guy and he was talking about emo music and I do not get what he is on about. What sort of bands go into this type? Is it kinda like punk? Please help me I have no idea.

I know that hip hop does not = emo. I am not completely clueless but seriously does anyone know?

for the most part, it's a terrible genre. but check out some rites of spring, indian summer, kodan armada, elliott, mineral, braid.... most bands that are labelled 'emo' these days sound nothing like actualy emo

god i hate that word

Emo means emotional rock - It basically is the name given to all those angst driven bands around - but it is turning into more of a lifestyle (like indie to an extent)
