Hi all,

I got early entry into B. Computer Science and am intending on taking it up. I'll hopefully be living at Weerona College.

My question is, what do I need for Computer Science? I already have a PowerBook, but will it be enough for the entire course? Also, is it necessary to have a computer my room or can I just use one on Campus? The other question is, what OS/HW do I need for the course. Is there a recommendation or is it just personal taste?

One more thing, does anyone have recommendations to what I options I should undertake? I definitely have not done any programing before (other than simple Applescripts), but will pick it up fast. I am also interested in networking, hardware/software interaction, GUI design and system design/administration. I'm also Mac centric, but keen to learn Linux/Unix as well. (I have messed around in Linux, but have had limited success in the terminal)

Yeah I know that! What I'm asking is can i just stick to my Mac HW, or should I make sure I have a PC in the corner. ;)

You will be fine. Any subject that does require a specific platform can be done on the uni computers.
