So raw mark is just the mark you would get if they marked everything. So what you get after you mark a practice paper, is a RAW mark.
Some subjects are harder than others - and smarter students do harder subjects.
Music 1, is easier relatively, then Maths Extension 2. So, in Music 1, students are expected to reach a higher RAW mark, and hence, scales to a LESSER aligned mark then Maths Extension 2.
Maths Extension 2 exams are very hard; so a low to mid 70 mark scales to a band e4. Maths Extension 1 is also hard, and hence has good scaling.

Ohhh ok so when you mean when they mark everything does this include internals, trials and hsc?

Also if the raw mark is scaled to the aligned mark i mentioned previously, where does the scaling of schools and ranks play a part in this?

Well, NESA obviously doesnt mark any intenral exams - but ALL of your internal exams are raw marks. The marks you get internally actually do not matter whatsoever, because they dont care about your mark, they care about your ranks. They dont use your mark anywhere, besides to allocate rankings. Your 'ASSESSMENT' mark, is just an adjusted HSC mark according to your rank.
