Our periods at school don't allow for English and Maths Extension 2 to be allocated into the timetable.
If you were doing Extension 2 Maths, you would have your 'class' during Extension 1 English.
If you were doing Extension 2 English, you would have normal Extension 1 Maths classes, but with Extension 1 English during the other Extension 2 Maths class.
It's complicated
2U Maths, 2U English:
They pick up another subject or study period, for the 2U allocation, on the timetable.
2U Maths, 3U English:
The English Extension period is divided into the "additional" (or normal) 2U time, with 1 study period (since this person doesn't do Extension 1 Maths).
3U Maths, 2U English:
Normal English classes, but when the above Extension English student has his study line, this Extension Maths student will have his 3U Maths class.
3U Maths, 3U English:
All study lines filled up, this person attends both 3U English and 3U Maths.
4U Maths, 2U English:
Where other students have Extension English, this person uses his "extra" study line (along with 3U Maths line) to have 4U Maths classes.
2U Maths, 4U English:
Periods filled out, this person uses up his study period (which would normally be for Maths students) to complete 3U and 4U. Normal maths classes.
3U Maths, 4U English:
All periods filled out, no study, this person sits in both 3U Maths (normal 2U, additional 3U, and the additional 3U English class). Other 4U lessons are before school and after school.
4U Maths, 3U English:
Same as the rest, normal classes for everything, but all your study lines will be filled out except for 1, but that's usually an Extension 2 Maths line though, so it works out. (This doesn't happen at my school though, 4M and 3E, along with the rarity of 4M, 4E. 4E and 3M is also rare, but 3M and 3E is common).
4U Maths, 4U English:
This is possible, but the timetable won't allow for it.
You can do 3U English and 3U Maths during 'class' time (normal, standard, allocated times), but the extra unit of English and Maths (4U/4U) must be completed before school, during lunchtimes, or afterschool.
Nobody does 4U Maths and 4U English at my school.
It is only the abovementioned cases.
I hope I haven't missed any out.

Yep, it is
But it's easier when you look at the timetable and figure out which subjects correspond with which lines (7A, 7B), and so on.
It's hard to explain when you don't have a grid/map, or period allocations.
