I'm assuming you mean what waves the Wireless WI-FI modem produces, they are electromagnetic.

light in fiber links for large intercity and international cables
wifi is radio waves
mobile phones (3g) is radio waves

actually, that answer was in references to wires. fibre optics =/= wires
